Alana Duval from The Circle entered Netflix’s hit show as herself and was the first player blocked, and we’ve learned more about her life after season one. The reality game show hybrid The Circle requires contestants to compete to become the most popular player. This competition happens solely through an online social media platform. On the show, competitors can be whomever they want to be. With catfish potential around every corner, everyone was immediately suspicious of the model, Alana.

Alana joined the season one cast after being scouted through her former agents. In an interview with iClick TV, she said that the producers, “had asked her if she could find a very fun, bubbly, outgoing girl, and my former agent said definitely. Alana Duval is a perfect fit.” After a Skype interview and an in-person second interview in LA, she became a part of the season 2 cast. The interview lasted for two days and included a thorough psych evaluation. During the interview, she also had to play with a simulated version of the Circle.

Though Alana intended to represent herself truthfully as a goofy, dorky, klutz who happened to be a model, her profile was truly a catfish profile. She presented herself as a working model who loved tacos and wanted to prove models are more than pretty faces. The model from Brownsville, Texas does like to eat tacos, but no one believed her profile was genuine. Then, Alana made a big mistake. One of her first moves as a player directly contradicted the persona she set forth in The Circle.

Defensively expecting girls to dislike her because of her beauty, Alana started a girls-only group chat and titled it “Skinny Queens.” The tactless title didn’t sit well with the other female players, especially not the eventual first-round influencer Sammie Cimarelli. Sammie thought the incredibly thin model (who claimed she ate whatever she wanted) made a misstep. She believed she could have seriously offended someone else invited to chat with the “Skinny Queens,” because no one knew what size anyone really was behind those profiles. Furthermore, Sammie didn’t like the implication that to be a girl worthy of this inner circle chat, a female needed to be skinny. In the end, Sammie was picked as one of the first influencers. With Antonio, she decided to block the likely catfish.

Though the episode does not present Alana in the best light, Alana says she realizes that someone had to go home first and that someone had to be made to look like a villain. She wishes that more of what she’d said had made it into the final edit, such as her insistence that caregiver Seaburn “Rebecca” Williams and Karyn “Mercedes” Blanco were catfishes.

These days, the Texan is still in Texas, posting a seemingly endless supply of sexy snaps to Instagram (yes, she’s a verified influencer). She spends her time bouncing from South Padre Island, Texas to Cancun, Quintana Roo, Puerto Vallarta, and Jalisco. The Circle alum wears a variety of bright, bold bikinis. She’s represented by Aston Models LA and still loves tacos.
