The Circle season 3 has crowned its winner and after a whole season of catfishing and backstabbing, all of the players finally came together in the finale to see who would take home the grand prize.

Season 3 contained more twists and turns than ever before, with one player being “cloned” and another getting the chance to control two profiles at once. As with any season of The Circle, some contestants, such as James and Kai, played as themselves. Others, such as Isabella and Ashley, were catfish. However, whether the players were real or fake didn’t necessarily correlate to their likability on the show.

Ava and Chanel (Playing As Ava)

Sisters Ava and Chanel entered the game together but weren’t entirely honest with the other players. The sisters decided to play as Ava, keeping Chanel’s presence in the game a secret.

Though they weren’t technically catfish, the sisters kept Chanel’s presence a secret. Ultimately, the two played it quite safe, thinking they could use Ava’s looks to sail through the game. Their plan failed, and Ava was the first player blocked. However, this wouldn’t be the sisters’ only shot at playing in this season…

Rachel (Playing As Jackson)

Rachel entered The Circle as her friend’s boyfriend, Jackson, but her vague answers soon aroused suspicion from the other players. The character of Jackson was quite dull, and the archetype Rachel tried to portray had already been filled in a more likable (and real) way by Nick.

Rachel did become part of Nick’s catfish-dominated alliance, but she played things far too safe and seemed to be one The Circle players who had no strategy. As said by Nick when the two came face to face, Rachel probably would have done better in the game if she had played as herself and not Jackson.

Jacki

As the last player to enter the game, Jacki’s time on The Circle was far too short to get a real impression of her. As she was so late into the game, Jacki was forced to play safe and was used as a pawn by the other players in an attempt to strengthen their own alliances.

She did seem fun-loving and down to earth, but she played only a very small part in the season. That being said, Jacki opening up about her brother’s death was one of the most emotional moments in the season.

Michelle

Michelle was the first player totally blocked from The Circle, which meant she wasn’t given much time. After getting blocked, Ava and Chanel got the chance to “clone” Michelle’s profile and play as her, and she was hilariously confused by the shocking twist.

Unfortunately, when it came time for the other players to choose which Michelle they belived was real, they each decided the real Michelle was the clone, and she was forced to give up her place in the game. When Michelle was blocked, it felt as if she had a lot more to give and a mother-son bond could have developed between her and Daniel.

Nick (Playing As Vince)

In a Circle first, Nick was given the chance to be two players at once, which was an ample opportunity for him to further his popularity in the game. Nick’s alter ego, Vince, quickly became a favorite among the other players (Daniel aside) with his elaborate ghost stories.

That being said, Nick never really used Vince to the best of his ability, and while he did use the fake profile to complement himself and interrogate Kai, this was where it ended. Nick could have used Vince to form new alliances and turn other players against each other, but he didn’t. Still, seeing him run from room to room when switching profiles was undeniably hilarious.

James

Despite being one of the last to join the game, James didn’t struggle for popularity and went on to win the season. He often found himself in the influencer position and had a solid and genuine friendship with Kai.

However, his late entrance into the game wasn’t what made his win so surprising. It was the fact he got rid of two of his allies in Daniel and Jacki. Although James was backed into a corner regarding Jacki, he could have fought harder to save Daniel. This may not have harmed his game overall, but it did detract a little from his likability as a player.

Ava and Chanel (Playing As Michelle)

Ava was the first player to be blocked, but she and her sister were given a second chance. The sisters used this second chance in the game to “clone” Michelle’s profile. Somehow, they convinced the other players that they were in fact the real Michelle, getting her blocked.

The episode when the others all voted for the clone player was one of the best episodes of The Circle, and the sisters seemed to have more fun second time around. As Ava and Chanel brilliantly managed to convince the other players that they were the real Michelle, it was a shame to see them blocked again shortly thereafter.

Calvin

Calvin was shaping up to be one of the strongest players on the season, so his blocking was certainly one of the most shocking. His developing relationship with Kai was both endearing and sweet to watch too.

He also had a great bond with Nick and Daniel, awarding the former with the burner profile upon his blocking, showing that he was loyal. Although Calvin didn’t get very far in the game, he did play with both his head and heart.

Nick

Nick was the season 3 resident lothario flirting his way through the game, and that proved to be a successful strategy. Sophia, aka Isabella, had been worried about leading Nick on, but she needn’t have as he also flirted with Ava and Ashley and was also attracted to Rachel, aka Jackson, when they came face to face.

Despite having a firm alliance with The Band, Nick managed to secure a strong relationship with all the other finalists. He was consistently one of the most popular players in The Circle and arguably formed the most friendships.

Daniel

Daniel was a fun-loving and eccentric ball of energy, and although he promised a lot more strategy than he actually delivered, he was a much needed part of the season from a viewer’s point of view. When heavy strategizing became too much, Daniel was always on hand to offer a fun joke or a savage putdown.

That being said, Daniel’s playing the role of the “little brother” in the game was one of the best strategic moves in season 3 of The Circle. Daniel’s friendship with Ruksana and his bubbly and unique personality made him one of the most watchable players so far.

Sophia (Playing As Isabella)

Sophia decided to play as her sister Isabella, and she developed a flirtation with Nick. She was an integral member of The Band alliance and one of only two catfish to make the finale.

Midway through the game, she did get carried away and became a little too strategic. However, one of the most likable things about Sophia was that she was able to recognize and rectify her own mistakes, and her making peace with Kai was one of the most heartwarming chats of the season.

Matthew (Playing As Ashley)

Matthew was undoubtedly the most successful catfish of the season with none of the other players suspecting him. He was a consistently fun and lively players, and his crush on Nick provided some great comedy moments.

His reasoning for playing Ashley, which he explained at the end of the season, gave a true glimpse into his character and showed that he just wanted to be accepted. The other players were left speechless when Matthew stepped out and revealed himself as Ashley. Although he didn’t win, he played an excellent game.

Kai

Kai went on quite a journey throughout the season, with many of the other players immediately seeing her as a threat. Despite her strategic nature, Kai had many heartfelt chats with her other players and, as admitted by Sofia, many of those not in her alliance wanted to be her friend.

Kai made some genuine friendships with James and Daniel and perhaps even something more with Calvin. Although she was a little too focused on rooting out catfish and was a little too strategic at times, she was still one of the most likable players in season 3.

Ruksana

Ruksana truly made the most of her time on the show and provided both wit and warmth. She quickly took Daniel under her wing, and the two formed one of the best friendships on The Circle, one that will surely be continued in the outside world.

Seeing Ruksana, who has a form of dwarfism, reveal her true height to the other players was a touching moment, and it was wonderful to see her being so open. Ruksana seemed to want genuine connections and friendships from her time on The Circle, and her blocking was a crushing blow to the season.
