Pedro Jimeno and River Everett from The Family Chantel are finally getting along, and it’s time to talk about how their bond developed. Their relationship was off to a rocky start when Chantel Everett and Pedro first got married. The brothers-in-law even got into a physical altercation early on in the series. Now, after years of getting to know each other, the guys finally seem like they are on the same page.

In more recent The Family Chantel history, River and Pedro found themselves on the same side of some family conflicts. At River’s older brother Royal Everett’s wedding in the Philippines, there was a lot of family tension. Chantel and her mother Karen Everett were suspicious of Royal’s new bride and believed she was fishing for an American man to support her family financially. Similarly, Chantel and Karen are hypercritical of Winter Everett’s boyfriend, Jah. After a private investigator revealed that Jah had a son he never told Winter about, their relationship was never the same. With so many controversies in the air, Pedro and River have stayed out of the fray.

River and Pedro were sent out on a mission by Karen, who wanted them to chop down a Christmas tree together. Pedro joked that he didn’t want to lose any fingers. Luckily, River was there to keep an eye on him. After five years of sorting out their issues, the in-laws appreciated each other like never before. As River said, “brothers get into it.” Now that River had a new girlfriend, Pedro was ready to provide some brotherly advice. River had been hiding Megan from Chantel or Karen.

Pedro then warned, “bro get ready, the justice is coming. Your mom is coming.” The men acknowledged that the women in the family don’t listen to River like Pedro’s mom and sister listen to Pedro. River is the youngest in his family, whereas Pedro is the oldest. After Pedro asked if River’s new girlfriend was American, River clarified that she was, and stated that he didn’t want to go down the same complicated road as his siblings. After the boys wrapped up their chat, River said, “it’s a big tree.” Pedro answered, “that’s what she say, bro.” What is brotherly love, if not a time for provocative jokes?

When River shared the news with the family, Pedro couldn’t help but smile while he was coiled up in the corner. Megan and River have since gone Instagram official, but the new bromance has yet to be captured online. After a long road, even Karen said, “It’s a breath of fresh air that River and Pedro are getting along.” The brothers-in-law are lucky to have each other. Now that Royal and Jah are out of the picture, the guys realize that enjoying their bromance will be even easier. The Family Chantel was overdue for some love between the families.

The Family Chantel airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on TLC.
