Chantel Jimeno, née Everett, might be the star of The Family Chantel, but her husband Pedro Jimeno’s family also brings plenty of drama to the 90 Day Fiancé spin-off show. Pedro’s mother Lidia Jimeno and sister Nicole Jimeno have disliked Chantel from the start, while Nicole has actively schemed to break Chantel and Pedro up. However, there is also drama within the Jimeno family. Discover why Lidia is the ultimate hypocrite due to the way she treats Nicole and Pedro.

Both Pedro’s mother Lidia and Chantel’s mother Karen are blasted for being some of the worst mothers-in-law in the extended 90 Day Fiancé franchise. Karen memorably mistreated Pedro and was hostile towards him marrying Chantel, while Lidia likewise has a permanent bad attitude when it comes to her daughter-in-law Chantel. While Lidia has plenty of scorn for her daughter-in-law, the past two seasons of The Family Chantel have also revealed drama between Lidia and Nicole. Lidia is furious that Nicole is dating Alejandro Padron since he is married. However, Lidia’s history proved she did the exact same thing.

Part of Pedro’s storyline on The Family Chantel season 3 is digging into his absentee father’s past. Pedro uncovered Lidia was essentially his father’s mistress, which resulted in both Pedro and Nicole being born while Pedro’s father cared for his legal family with his wife and left Lidia and their children behind. Lidia refuses to comment on her relationship and insisted she didn’t know he was married. However, audiences and Chantel alike have difficultly believing Lidia never questioned why her partner could only meet at night and could never take the kids over to his place. Therefore, it appears obvious that Lidia openly had an affair with a married man for several years and had two children during that time. However, she still lashes out at Nicole and judges her harshly for dating Alejandro.

Lidia is most obviously a hypocrite when it comes to her treatment of Nicole. However, she also behaves hypocritically with Pedro. Lidia emphasizes the importance of family and expects Pedro to provide for her even at the expense of his marriage to Chantel. However, Lidia refuses to help Pedro in his quest to learn more about his father and his father’s side of the family. Lidia has seemingly been withholding significant information about the family from Pedro, such as the fact that he has two half-siblings. It is also hypocritical of her to preach family values and the sanctity of marriage when both she and Nicole cannot stand Chantel and frequently meddle in her marriage to Pedro.

Karen might be an absolute nightmare mother to have, but Lidia could potentially be worse. The Dominican Republic woman has concealed a lot from Pedro and Nicole, which has left them cut off from many of their relatives. Lidia also directs unfair anger and judgment towards her daughter for actions that she also committed. It appears Lidia judges other people more harshly than she judges herself, which explains her animosity towards Chantel. Overall, Lidia comes across as very hypocritical on The Family Chantel and the mother has also received a cold reception from franchise fans for her behavior.

The Family Chantel airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on TLC.
