The Flashseason 7 is finally introducing Bart Allen a.k.a. Impulse after years of several Arrowverse Easter eggs hinting at the speedster. The CW is getting ready to expand the Arrwoverse Flash Family once more by introducing one of the remaining big speedsters from the DC Universe: Barry Allen’s progeny from the future, Impulse.

Jordan Fisher will be joining The Flash in season 7 as the fan-favorite hero Impulse, who will be slightly changed for the Arrowverse. While comic book fans know Bart as the future grandchild of Iris West and Barry Allen, Fisher’s iteration will instead be the son that they’ll have one day.

Fisher’s first appearance will be in The Flash season 7, episode 17, which also acts as the show’s 150th milestone. While it remains to be seen how long his Arrowverse visit will last, Bart will at least be a recurring guest towards the end of the seventh season. With the coming introduction of Impulse, The Flash is following through on the various Easter eggs in the show’s history that hinted at the futuristic speedster.

The Flash/Arrow Crossover: “The Brave and the Bold”

During The Flash season 1 and Arrow season 3, the Arrowverse had its first official crossover by bringing the Scarlet Speedster and Green Arrow together for a 2-night event. After Barry had been introduced in Arrow season 2, the crossover takes place almost a year later as he and Oliver Queen work together. During “The Brave and the Bold” part of The Flash/Arrow crossover, Barry and his team head over to Star City to help Oliver’s gang take on Captain Boomerang. During an encounter with Quentin and Laurel Lance, the SCPD captain mistakes Barry’s name to be Bart Allen.

The Flash Season 3, Episode 21: “Cause and Effect”

It would become clear that Barry was a fan of the name part during a temporary memory loss in The Flash season 3. In the episode “Cause and Effect,” Team Flash tries to help Barry stop making new memories so that Savitar (a corrupted time remnant of Barry) couldn’t be one step ahead of them. But their method only caused Barry to suffer from amnesia altogether as he forgot about his life completely. When he doesn’t believe Team Flash that his name is Barry, he checks his ID and discovers that his full name is Bartholomew Henry Allen. He asks them if they’re certain that he didn’t go by Bart as “Bart feels more natural” to him. Luckily, Barry gets his memories back — but it wouldn’t be shocking if he is the one that chooses or suggests the name Bart for whenever he and Iris would get a son.

The Flash Season 7, Episode 5: “Fear Me”

The latest Bart Easter egg came only hours after The CW announced Fisher’s Arrowverse casting. In The Flash season 7, episode 5, the DC Comics villain Psych makes his debut; he has the power to make people experience their deepest fears, causing Barry to see several of his loved ones lying dead in front of him, including Iris. But when Iris rises up to confront Barry, she says that when he let her die, he also killed their children. Given that they announced Fisher’s role the same day, it’s hard to picture it being a coincidence that Iris (even as an illusion) would accuse Barry of getting their kids killed the same day fans learned that their future son is coming to The Flash.
