Warning: includes a preview for The Flash #776!

In The Flash #776, Doctor Fate, out of nowhere, returns and whisks Wally West away from Central City. Wally had just returned from a long journey throughout time and space thanks to the Speed Force, and it seems that he’ll have very little time to settle back to reality as he will now be forced to leave Earth once again. However, this time, Central City’s Flash should be more prepared considering how tough it was to navigate through his last reality-breaking adventure.

Doctor Fate is a character known for his use of magic. He is one of the most powerful sorcerers in the DC universe. This is thanks to his magical golden mask which grants him access to every spell in the universe. Additionally, Doctor Fate has various other abilities, including flight, super strength, telepathy, and teleportation, among others. He isn’t normally associated with the Flash that much as he appears more in more magical sections of the DCU.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Now, DC Comics has released the solicitation info and cover art for The Flash #776 by Jeremy Adams and Fernando Pasarin, which will see the return of Doctor Fate. The powerful magic wielder has returned to take Flash away to a brand-new dimension. The reason for his arrival is unclear, however, it seems that he’s doing it with the best of intentions. It’s clear that Doctor Fate has some sort of endgame that will somehow better the DCU. Check out the cover art and solicit info below:

  • Doctor Fate arrives to whisk the Flash away to the IN-BETWEEN, a two-dimensional causeway filled with demonic forces. Now it’s up to YOU, the reader, to help the Scarlet Speedster make his way through the dangerous dimension toward his final destination and the beginning of a brand-new adventure!

The dimension that Wally West will be caught in is called the “In-Between” and is described as a two-dimensional causeway filled with demons. Causeways always have a final destination, so, of course, there will be one for the new Flash. However, it seems the fight against the cosmic causeway’s demons won’t be an easy one. What’s most interesting about Doctor Fate and Flash’s entire ordeal is that it will somehow let readers decide Wally’s fate, as it seems DC is doing an interactive comic, A Death in the Family style. The solicitation reads, “Now it’s up to YOU, the reader, to help the Scarlet Speedster make his way through the dangerous dimension.” How this will work is still unknown.

The idea of being able to guide a hero to victory has something inherently fascinating about it. Allowing the reader to make decisions that they themselves would make in the situation could potentially allow for a more immersive story. Doctor Fate‘s return will be welcomed, despite him whisking Wally West away so soon after he has returned. The Flash #776will be available on November 16 in comic book stores and on digital platforms.
