The Flash’s Sasha Calle, who’s set to debut as the DCEU’s Supergirl, hypes the upcoming multiversal film in new behind-the-scenes photos. A Flash solo movie has been in the works since Ezra Miller was cast as the scarlet speedster back in 2014. Following the lackluster success of 2017’s Justice League and abandonment of the Snyder-Verse, the film has been subjected to a revolving door of creatives. Now, director Andy Muschietti’s The Flash—which recently wrapped principal photography—is set to release in theaters on November 4, 2022, with a script written by Birds of Prey scribe, Christina Hodson.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Flash will pick up with Barry Allen after the events of Justice League, presumably incorporating the best aspects of both Zack Snyder’s Justice League and the theatrical cut. In particular, Speed Force. The film will introduce the DCEU’s multiverse and will feature multiple versions of Flash, and both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton’s Batmen. As this year’s DC FanDome, fans got their first sneak peek at Keaton in his Tim Burton-esque bat suit (among other things). The Flash also stars Kiersey Clemon as Iris West, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdu as Nora Allen, Ian Loh as a young Barry Allen, and Calle as a new version of the Kryptonian cousin of Superman, Supergirl.

Calle recently took to Instagram to hype The Flash in new BTS images. The photos include some latte art of the Supergirl emblem and a candid photo of director Muschietti above the caption “can’t wait to share her with you.” Check it out below:

Fan have only gotten a glimpse of Calle’s Supergirl via set photos, which has only exacerbated the hype surrounding her character. Given Henry Cavill’s uncertain future as Clark Kent/Superman, the J.J. Abrams-produced reboot, and Michael B. Jordan-produced Val Zod series for HBO Max, The Flash’s Supergirl may play a pivotal role in setting up the DCEU’s Kryptonian future. The Flash screenwriter, Hodson, is also writing the screenplay for HBO Max’s Batgirl movie. Suffice to say, rumors suggest Supergirl could be getting her own movie/series as well.

In addition to Supergirl’s appearance, The Flash’s concept should allow for an unpredictable amount of DCEU cameos. With over a year before the film’s release date, there’s plenty of time to work on visual effects and perfect the project via reshoots if necessary. Its marketing campaign should be expected to pick up in the coming months with an official trailer dropping in the early part of 2022 (in theaters before The Batman?). Alongside Matt Reeves’ Batman reboot, The Flash is easily Warner Bros/DC’s biggest project on the horizon, and it should redefine the DCEU moving forward.
