Kristen Kramer’s story took a few turns since first being introduced in The Flash season 7, but the latest reveal could mean big things for her in season 8. The Arrowverse series has no shortage of metahumans, but Kramer started off as a very human antagonist for Killer Frost before moving toward finding her friend-turned-fugitive Adam Creyke, who was responsible for the deaths of Kramer’s entire military unit. A big twist at the end of the season 7 finale sets up Kramer’s potential return next season.

The Flash’s season 7 finale saw Joe West and Kristen return to Central City after their confrontation with Adam. As the Godspeed clones attacked the surrounding cars, one of the deadly speedsters attempted to kill Joe with his vibrating hand. Kramer quickly came to the rescue, speeding Joe out of the way. This was a pretty surprising moment considering how against metahumans Kramer has been from the start. However, the interim CCPD captain’s test results proved once and for all that Kramer was herself a meta, one who could mimic others’ powers when in close proximity. This is why she survived her unit’s ambush years prior, unknowingly mimicking Adam’s invulnerability during the explosion.

While Kramer is taking an indefinite leave of absence from her job at the CCPD, showrunner Eric Wallace teased The Flash season 8 could further explore her newfound meta abilities. Having metahuman abilities opens a lot of doors for Kramer in a personal sense. She hated other metas for so long that the realization she is one herself will likely have major repercussions in terms of what that means for her and her worldview, as well as how she will move forward now that she has this information. Kramer is a very by-the-book, no-nonsense woman, but there are opportunities to delve a bit deeper regarding how she will take to her powers and what she might do with them.

Will she attempt to dismantle her policies surrounding metahumans? Will she be compelled to change her mind about them now that she is one as well? Her mimicry of others’ powers could also change the way Team Flash fights villains in the future. Anything is possible as far as Kramer’s story goes, but the revelation is a shocker to be sure. Kramer could use her powers to protect others like she did Joe in The Flash season 7 finale, though it’s doubtful she will suit up anytime soon to do so. While Kramer might not be around for too long, it’s possible she might join Team Flash for a bit. Conversely, she could bring their attention to a new metahuman villain who is on the rise before pitching in to help with her own abilities.

But, considering the show is called The Flash, it’s possible her metahuman capabilities will be called upon to help the speedster in a predicament. If Kristen Kramer can mimic other abilities, she might aid The Flash in his fight against the next big villain. In the comics, Kristen starts out as a CCPD intern who ultimately got a full-time gig working as a forensic scientist. She doesn’t have any abilities, however, so The Flash has free rein when it comes to her storyline in season 8. Whatever happens, Kramer’s new situation is a true opportunity to explore metahuman abilities and the people they impact the most.
