Fox’s The Four: Battle For Stardom is a reality TV music competition hosted by pop star Fergie that broadcast its first season in early 2018. The show has been compared to fellow singing competitions American Idol and The Voice but introduced a new spin on the format. Instead of focusing on the lengthy and often cringe-worthy audition process, The Four: Battle For Stardom begins with four talented ‘finalists’ whose vocals span a number of genres. Each week, those artists must defend their place in the competition against new singers – also known as ‘challengers’ – who try to outperform them and claim their spot in the contest.

The last singer standing wins the season and lays claim to the ultimate prize. Not only are they named an iHeartRadio ‘On The Verge’ artist, but they also receive the star-making career advice of the show’s judges – Sean Combs, DJ Khaled, and Meghan Trainor – and get a record deal with Republic Records. In season 1 of The Four: Battle For Stardom, the lucky winner was Evvie McKinney who won over the judges and audience with her performances of ‘Proud Mary’ and ‘Glory’ in the season finale.

The Four season 2 began airing in June 2018 and concluded in August when it crowned British singer James Graham the winner. Graham – who is a former member of boy band Stereo Kicks formed during season 11 of British reality TV show The X Factor – was one of the original four artists in season 2. He was knocked out in week 6 when his rendition of Jason Derulo’s ‘Want To Want Me’ failed to impress and he was replaced by challenger Leah Jenea.

Luckily for Graham, he managed to claw his way back into the competition the following week when viewers voted for him to return, and his performances of Sam Smith’s ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ from Bond film Spectre and power ballad ‘Without You’ earned him a place in the final. Graham faced off against fellow finalist Sharaya J and won with his rendition of Coldplay’s ‘Fix You.’ Since then, Graham has been signed to Republic Records although there’s no word on whether he’ll be releasing an album anytime soon.

The future of The Four itself is in limbo at the moment. No new seasons aired in 2019 but Fox hasn’t officially confirmed yet whether the show has been renewed or canceled, so fans of The Four: Battle For Stardom will have to wait and see.
