Funny face filters and lenses are available in many smartphone apps, but Snapchat remains one of the best places to find them. The app meant for sending photos that quickly disappear has expanded massively over the years and picked up heat for features, such as Snap Streaks. Since the app’s invention, it has changed in many ways, from friend lists to the amount of time a photo can be seen, but Snapchat lenses remain one of the most popular options.

Snapchat filters and lenses range from dog faces to FaceTiming the former President Barack Obama, and everything in-between. The first geofilters were introduced on the app in August 2014, and were shortly followed by the face filters in January of 2015. In 2018, Snapchat upped the ante again when the service added a feature that allows users to create their own. Whereas lenses were once on a limited rotation for users, they can now press the explore magnifying glass and search through thousands of lenses at anytime.

Lenses are simple to use, just make sure your face is unobstructed, and that it is lit enough for the screen to recognize a face. Now, with all these options it can be daunting to look through all the lenses, but that quickly changes when you know where the funny ones are. After pressing that explore button, Snapchat has created a For You section of lenses that are similar to your most used. Next to that is a Trending page where the top lenses are showcased.

Funny Snapchat Lenses Worth Checking Out

Since Netflix added Avatar the Last Airbender, intensifying the buzz around the movie, it is no surprise that there is a Snapchat lens for it as well. The lens is called Avatar Bending and cycles through the types of bending from the Nickelodeon cartoon, but with a twist. Alongside water, fire, earth, air, and blood, is now the option of back bending. Users simply need to put their face on screen and open their mouth to find out what kind of bender they are. Next are the My Twin lenses, which allow people to see themselves gender-swapped. This filter has populated many story feeds as siblings realize just how much they look alike when swapped. This lens needn’t be looked up, as it has occupied a forefront spot for a few months now.

The 5 head lens currently holds a top spot on the trending page. This one shrinks the bottom portion of the face and stretches the forehead out. The shape reminisces something one might see on the show Invader Zim. This lens is simple with no voice alteration, but does the trick, Broccoli Head is another Snapchat original and also has no voice changing. However, what it lacks in a voice change it makes up for in its absurdity. This lens converts a head into a giant piece of broccoli, but it doesn’t end there. The eyes and mouth are blown out of proportion to complete the silly look. There are thousands more filters and lenses made by Snapchat, as well as its users so, there is truly something for everyone. If not, you’re free to make one on your own and there are always plenty of games and other features to enjoy in the Snapchat smartphone app instead.
