Warning: Minor SPOILERS for Venom 2099

There hasn’t been a shortage of Venom news for months, possibly even years. But Marvel wasn’t going to let that interfere with the symbiote’s own role in the future of the famous Spider-Man 2099. And the mysteriously ill young girl who will apparently become the new Venom alongside Marvel’s most outlandish future heroes.

The world of Marvel 2099 is a far darker one than the present day, which is saying something. But where a new Captain America holds the shield, and the idea of Frank Castle’s war against a broken order is re-imagined as a science fiction Punisher, it only makes sense to pursue a version of Venom as unlike existing versions as possible. Which is how fans arrive at Alea Bell, the newly revealed host of the Venom symbiote, in the official preview of Marvel’s Venom 2099.

The continuity of the 2099 timeline of Marvel’s Universe is one in which a catastrophic event brings the age of heroes to an end. Decades later, mega-corporations rule over humanity, led by Doctor Doom. One such company is already known to fans, since Alchemax is the one responsible for the creation of Spider-Man 2099, Miguel O’Hara. It seems it’s also the company offering a dangerous medical treatment to young Alea Bell in the form of the Venom symbiote. How will Alea react? How will the symbiote feel about its new host? Those answers are coming, but first, take a look at the official preview pages below:

Fans can piece together plenty from this preview, particularly the flashes of memory belonging to both Alea and the Venom symbiote when they first merge. For the symbiote, there’s its time as Spider-Man’s black suit, and of course a haunting appearance from its own creator Knull, God of Symbiotes. For Alea, there is an explosion, the mourning of a lost loved one, and what may be Alea trying to fight her way to her mother (explaining her burns, perhaps?). The detail will have to wait, but there’s no telling what story will be told when pairing the Venom symbiote with a child, decades into the future of Marvel’s Universe.
