The Good Place has said its final goodbye to the world, and we’re all still looking back at how the groundbreaking program managed to become so popular. There have been some amazing moments across the series, but the cameos have to be amongst the best.

The show used some of Hollywood’s brightest stars, as well as major comedy names, to round out its cast list. Across the history of the show, there have been a number of great cameos; here is a list of 10 of the best that we’ve seen in the past 4 seasons.

10 Mary Steenburgen

Ted Danson has portrayed the reformed demon Michael for every season of the show. While Michael is lonely in love in The Good Place in the real world, Danson is actually married to the very talented Mary Steenburgen.

The finale of the show saw Michael make a journey to Earth so that he could live out his life as a human. He started getting guitar lessons in order to continue to better himself. His teacher was none other than Steenburgen herself!

9 Timothy Olyphant

There’s been plenty of major TV show crossovers recently, whether it’s the world of detectives or comic book heroes. One cameo that fans of the show were not expecting, however, was famous TV cowboy Raylan Givens from Justified.

The show is one of the judges’ favorites, and so Janet has a version of Timothy Olyphant made so that he can help persuade the judge of the new system that Chidi is pitching. It’s a really fun moment that certainly surprised many viewers.

8 Stephen Merchant

Stephen Merchant is on the rise as he continues to star in major box office hits and fine-tunes his own abilities as a writer and now a director. However, one role that Merchant was seemingly perfect for was as the accountant of the afterlife.

In the show, Merchant is a man of statistics, as he heads up the department responsible for tracking all the points that humans earn on Earth. Not only is he a major part of the story, therefore, but he also added his trademark and much needed comedic timing during dramatic moments.

7 Lisa Kudrow

The famous comedic actress, well known for her time portraying Phoebe Buffay, has made a number of other cameos across newer network series. One of the most recent and memorable was as the mother of Kimmy Schmidt.

In this series, Kudrow actually portrayed the famous Hypatia of Alexandria, a historical figure that Chidi adores. However, after spending eternity in the Good Place, Hypatia’s mind has fallen apart. She does, however, play a pivotal role in helping our heroes save the Good Place.

6 Flula Borg

The YouTuber, musician, and German comedian Flula Borg is continuing to make his mark in Hollywood. One way he has done this is by making cameos in the likes of The Good Place. Perhaps he isn’t instantly recognizable from his appearance, but his voice will definitely give it away.

Flula, as he is commonly referred, has a very distinctive voice that makes everything he says even funnier. He makes a very brief appearance in the fake Good Place, although this really is only a small, one-off role.

5 Nicole Byer

Nicole Byer is a face of complete positivity. With a long list of acting experiences, as well as her incredibly enthusiastic personality as a host and TV presenter, Byer is an instantly recognizable cameo to have in a show.

With such a large personality it makes sense that she would fit right into the Good Place, working in the mail department. Her comedic styling and over the top, positive reactions, mimic the rest of the Good Place residents—she’s almost a parody of herself, though!

4 Adam Scott

Adam Scott is a perhaps the longest-running cameo on this list as he appears across 5 different episodes in multiple seasons. A little less than a recurring character however, it’s a great cameo due to the fact the actor represents another classic NBC sitcom.

Parks and Rec and The Good Place share a lot of connections. It’s therefore only right that one of the main characters of that show, Ben Wyatt, gets to have some representation as one of the worst members of the Bad Place.

3 Kurt Braunohler

Comedian and actor Kurt Braunohler is known for his hilarious stand-up routines as well as appearances in major movies and TV franchises such as Bob’s Burgers, Long Shot, and The Big Sick.

Braunohler plays Ken in on Earth in the final shot of the whole series. He’s the guy that gets the wrong letter delivered to him, and so he helpfully returns it to Michael. Of course, this gives the former demon the opportunity to utter the famous line, take it sleazy.

2 Jackie Tohn

Jackie Tohn has been in the limelight recently for her major role in the wrestling series Glow. However, her career stretches much further than this, as she’s had large roles in a variety of comedies and dramas across the years.

Her cameo in The Good Place is as one of the Bad Place’s many torturers. She appears as a part of Adam Scott’s gang, therefore linking multiple shows together in a pretty cool crossover. As you’d expect, she was especially rude and cruel.

1 Nick Offerman

It has to be said that one of the best parts of the season finale of the show, was the appearance of Nick Offerman. It’s not totally clear whether he was playing his famous Parks and Rec character Ron Swanson, or even just himself.

Despite this, the appearance of Offerman felt like it brought the show to a fitting close. It was almost a passing of the baton moment, where one series gave a nod to the other in its final episode. Plus, we got to see him teaching Tahini about woodworking—what’s not to love!
