Musician Kurt Schneider plays the Harry Potter theme on his washing machine in a video retweeted by J.K. Rowling. Though the final film released almost a decade ago, the wizarding series remains as popular as ever. It helps that media related to the franchise, such as Harry Potter and the Cursed Child continues to make its way into the world. The films remain alive as well, thanks to the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movies. Plus, as the first Harry Potter book came out over 20 years ago at this point, it’s about time a new generation of fans discovers the series.

Rowling also keeps people invested in Harry Potter now by sharing details about characters, plot points, etc. every so often. Arguably the biggest bombshell that wasn’t included in the books was Dumbledore’s sexuality, with Rowling revealing he was both gay and in love with Grindelwald. Other reveals have been smaller or even unnecessary, such as her odd explanation of what witches and wizards did before adopting Muggle plumbing. However, regardless of the importance of the information, most fans enjoy staying connected to the beloved series.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Musician Kurt Schneider came up with a unique way to show his love for Harry Potter: learning how to play the theme song on his washing machine. Schneider shared the video on Twitter, where it was then retweeted by Rowling. In it, Schneider plays the song, technically known as “Hedwig’s Theme,” using the controls on his washing machine, with another person providing an assist on the dryer. “Hedwig’s Theme” is by far the most well-known song from Harry Potter, so it makes sense Schneider chose it.

This video isn’t too unusual considering many are still limiting time outside due to the coronavirus. Lots of people have posted funny videos of things they’ve been doing to pass the time in the interim. Harry Potter fans are an especially creative bunch, often showing off the ways they pay homage to the classic series. Using a washing machine instead of a traditional instrument is certainly impressive and a one-of-kind way to play “Hedwig’s Theme.”

It seems unlikely Harry Potter will ever truly go out of style. The kids who read the books when they first came out are far into adulthood at this point, with many still enjoying the wizarding world as much as they did when they were kids. Hopefully, Harry Potter fans will continue churning out creative homages to the series for years to come.
