Warning: includes a preview for Justice League: Last Ride #6!

In Justice League: Last Ride #6, the Justice League is faced with “the ultimate quandary” which could lead to them doing the unspeakable to Lobo!

Despite their squabbles, the Justice League has reunited for one final mission. Their initial mission was to protect Lobo he can face justice for his crimes. However, due to the league being easily trackable, they were forced to find a place to hide. Naturally, they headed for the one place in the universe where the environment is so toxic that their signals become untraceable, Apokolips. As teased recently, dark forces are on their way to capture and kill Lobo. Unfortunately, the Justice League has a traitor in their midst, who has seemingly sold out their location. Who that so-called hero is remains to be seen, but it’s not that surprising. That current version of the Justice League is in disarray as they hold huge grudges against each other. Even with Superman finding out about the true identity of the Justice League’s traitor, it will most likely be too late!

DC Comics has released the solicitation and cover art for Justice League: Last Ride #6 by Chip Zdarsky and Miguel Mendonca. DC’s big tease is this, “they’re presented with the ultimate quandary—protect the galaxy’s most ruthless bounty hunter LOBO, sacrifice him, or do something…more unspeakable!” Will the Justice League end up killing Lobo instead of giving him up? Even as Superman and the league become surrounded by deadly forces, surely they won’t go as far as to kill their prisoner? However, readers who have read previous issues will recall that Wonder Woman went on a killing spree as she beheaded Granny Goodness in the past. What’s to say that she or one of her teammates won’t go the extra step, as she did before.

  • The JUSTICE LEAGUE is stranded on an Apokolips that’s deadlier than ever, with Earth in its crosshairs! And while the League battles with hordes and the clock, they’re presented with the ultimate quandary—protect the galaxy’s most ruthless bounty hunter LOBO, sacrifice him, or do something…more unspeakable! Even worse, they must do all of this while dealing with a TRAITOR IN THEIR MIDST! Will they be too late, since all roads lead…to Darkseid?.

The cover art and solicitation tease Darkseid’s potential return. But it seems more likely that only Darkseid’s presence will be felt rather than the villain showing up himself. Although the issue will be full of battle and lives will be at stake, the cover art seems more of a metaphorical image. Suggesting that Superman and the Justice League are hanging by their last strings as things go sideways. Nevertheless, the Justice League’s moral conundrum of what they are to do with Lobo remains the issue’s big focus, despite Darkseid’s looming presence over the whole series.

Justice League: Last Ride #6 promises to be an action-packed issue that will test the league in new moral ways, beyond just the physical challenge of fighting off the hordes. Will the league give up Lobo so that they can survive or will they realize what they’re thinking about is completely wrong? It goes against everything that the Justice League stands for. It’s clear that this will either make or break them. Justice League: Last Ride #6releases on October 12 in comic book stores and on digital platforms.
