Khloé Kardashian has revealed that her family will be earning the same salary for their new Hulu series, The Kardashians. After fourteen years on the air, Keeping Up With the Kardashians concluded after 20 seasons in June 2021. No strangers to the spotlight, the Kardashian women, including matriarch Kris Jenner and her five daughters Kourtney, Kim, and Khloé Kardashian and Kendall and Kylie Jenner have reshaped the way viewers think of reality television. It’s not surprising that after wrapping up KUWTK, the family moved on to the next exciting opportunity.

If the Kardashians have mastered anything, it’s taking their family and transforming each member into a brand. All the Kardashians have separate business ventures outside of their reality television itinerary. The success experienced from their show has become an integral element of the Kardashian business model. Kim focuses on her shapewear company SKIMS, as well as her makeup empire, KKW Beauty which is scheduled to experience a rebrand this year after the recent removal of West from her name. Kylie has the third most popular Instagram account, boasting a cosmetics, skincare, and swimwear line. Supermodel Kendall has her own tequila company, Khloé has the Good American clothing line, and Kourtney has her lifestyle and wellness company, Poosh. Altogether, the Kardashian family is estimated to be worth more than $5 billion.

In an interview with Variety, Khloé defended the Kardashian-level paycheck for filming the new Hulu series. While the Kardashians haven’t confirmed their payment details, insiders report that each family member will earn the same nine figures for filming. “We’re all equals,” Khloé explains as the family discussed negotiating a price for the new Hulu series. For a family that catapulted to success based on their television fame, the family’s lucrative paycheck from Hulu only reflects a fraction of their net worth. With the new series set to air in April, The Kardashians will explore a new filming format while simultaneously supporting their other business ventures. Rather than having the family together for the majority of filming, The Kardashians will film individuals more often.

The reported nine-figure salary invokes the debate of what the Kardashian family should be paid based on their previous success, but Kris reveals, “Money always matters.” The sisters do not play an active role in payment negotiations, instead, Kris takes the reigns and “fights like a pit bull,” according to her daughter Khloé. Playing a significant role in why the family switched from E! to the streaming service Hulu, Khloé explained that money plays such a huge factor in their actions “because we give so much of our personal lives up for entertainment. We always have our private family conversations, and we’re pretty brutal, me and my sisters, with what we will settle for or not settle for.” Khloé added, “But not all money is good money. It has to be a good fit, and Hulu was just the perfect fit for us.

The Kardashians is set to be an exciting revamp of the original KUWTK series. If the success of the original KUWTK is any testament to the new series, the family deserves a generous paycheck. While some might think that the Kardashians are famous for just being famous, the family has built an incredibly successful business empire with their notoriety that spans farther than reality television. With a public image that’s synonymous with success, it only makes sense for the family to be compensated for their time fairly. The Kardashian women work hard, but when determining a fair price for their time, their mother Kris will always work harder.

The Kardashians premieres on April 14 on Hulu.
