Warner Bros. confirms the official title of The LEGO Movie 2, as well as the logo, in the first teaser poster for the upcoming animated sequel. In 2014, The LEGO Movie hit theaters and became a massive success. Reviews for The LEGO Movie were largely positive and the film went on to earn $469 million on a $60 million budget. The movie was simply the latest success for the writing-directing duo of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who worked on Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street.

In fact, The LEGO Movie was such a hit that Warner Bros. quickly put a whole LEGO cinematic universe into development. Last year saw the release of both The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie, though the former was much more of a critical and financial success than the latter. Further, a sequel to The LEGO Movie has been in development for quite some time, with the script undergoing rewrites and the release date being pushed to 2019. However, the sequel takes another major step forward as the first official artwork for The LEGO Movie 2 is released.

The official LEGO Movie Twitter released the logo for the sequel, which additionally confirms the movie’s title to be The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. The title is likely poking fun at film series that break up one of their movies into a first and second part – like the concluding chapters of the Harry Potter, Twilight, and Hunger Games franchises. Take a look at the title and logo below.

Though Lord and Miller did the most recent rewrite of The LEGO Movie 2, the pair aren’t returning as directors. Instead, Trolls helmer Mike Mitchell will direct from a script by Lord and Miller, which also underwent a rewrite from Raphael Bob-Waksberg, the creator of BoJack Horseman. Based on what producers have said about the sequel, it will pick up some time after the events of The LEGO Movie and will feature Duplo, toys that represent the little sister of the boy from the first film. As a result, The LEGO Movie 2 will deal with gender differences, a topic that’s sure to offer plenty of compelling story for the sequel.

Certainly, the title for The LEGO Movie 2 may even tap into those gender dynamics, since it seems to pull from franchises that are generally thought to skew more toward young female viewers. But as is often the case with Lord and Miller’s work, The LEGO Movie sequel will likely upend expectations and take viewers on an unexpected adventure. Considering how well received and successful the first film was, it remains to be seen if The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part will be able to reach that high bar. But with many of the same filmmakers involved, it certainly has the potential to be another hit.
