The LEGO Movie director Christopher Miller reveals his favorite Batman actor in a hilarious tweet. Miller is one half of the creative duo behind a number of hit animated projects, including The LEGO Movie and Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, alongside fellow director and writer, Phil Lord. With The LEGO Movie having become an instant box office hit back in 2014, an exciting appearance from the caped crusader himself (voiced by Will Arnett) within the film then saw Miller and Lord return to produce The LEGO Batman Movie.

The LEGO Batman Movie featured a number of big names alongside Arnett, including Michael Cera, Zach Galifianakis, and Ralph Fiennes. For the most part, the film enjoyed a strong box office run when it was released in 2017 and as such, was due to receive a sequel, however, the project was unfortunately scrapped last year due to a rights issue. Coupled with Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne, Arnett’s LEGO Batman was one of the more recent big-screen iterations of the dark knight, right up until last week’s release of Matt Reeves’ The Batman which proved to be a massive hit at the box office and among critics. With Robert Pattinson now the latest star to take on the role of Gotham’s protector, the overwhelmingly positive response to his performance has opened up the discussion as to which actor portrays the best Batman, and Miller has offered his two cents.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Miller’s tweet comes in response to Amazon Prime Video’s account, which shared a collage of both Affleck and Pattinson, alongside Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, and Christian Bale and asked the question “Who’s your Batman?” The director then responded by reposting the image, however, this time with LEGO Batman edited in, with a red arrow pointing directly to him. Many fans were quick to agree with Miller, expressing their love for his animated iteration, while some also noted Adam West’s absence from the line-up. This year marks 8 years since The LEGO Movie was released in theatres and first introduced LEGO Batman to audiences, with Miller taking to Twitter last month to celebrate the film’s anniversary. From one beloved comic-book character to the next, both Miller and Lord are now currently gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated spidey sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) which is set to hit theatres later this year.

The LEGO Batman Movie offered a much more light-hearted and comical approach to the notoriously dark character of Bruce Wayne, playing on a number of tropes that have become synonymous with the hero over the years. For that reason, it’s likely that Miller’s sentiments will be echoed by some when it comes to comparing previous Batman iterations. It’s certainly hilarious to see Miller ensuring LEGO Batman gets the respect he deserves, and perhaps there is hope for Arnett’s character to return to screens in the future, if the rumored The LEGO Movie threequel ever comes to fruition.
