The Mandalorian season 2 premiere confirms theories that one-off characters from season 1 can make another appearance. Star Wars‘ first live-action series is back to continue Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Baby Yoda’s adventures. The Mandalorian season 2 will have an expanded cast of characters with Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff) set to make their live-action debut following Boba Fett’s (Temuera Morrison) return.

Aside from the aforementioned ones, there are also other unknown characters set to debut in the show as previously revealed by casting reports. The Mandalorian season 2, episode 1 titled “Chapter 9: The Marshal” already introduced Timothy Olyphant’s Cobb Vanth  — the Marshal of Mos Pelgo, who was wearing Boba Fett’s armor before Din retrieved it from him. Aside from him, Sasha Banks and Michael Biehn are also expected to factor in the series in still-unconfirmed roles.

While there will be a string of new characters joining The Mandalorian, previously introduced players like Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) and Cara Dune (Gina Carano) will be making a comeback as well. But, they won’t be the only familiar faces returning in The Mandalorian season 2 as the appearance of Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris) established the idea that even one-off characters can also be brought back.

Introduced in season 1, episode 5 titled “The Gunslinger,” she operates as a mechanic on Tatooine and was briefly the caretaker of Baby Yoda while Din went out on a mission with Toro Calican (Jake Cannavale). Proving herself to be a trustworthy ally, it made sense that Din and Baby Yoda’s most recent trip to Tatooine led them back to her spaceport. Admittedly, however, there was barely any expectation that Peli will be back for The Mandalorian season 2, especially since the series likes to hop from one planet to another, with Nevarro functioning as the story’s central setting. Her involvement in the ongoing year sets a precedence that other previously-assumed one-off characters can also re-appear in the show. Further backing up this idea is the confirmation that Myrthol (Horatio Sanz) is also returning as he was featured in the trailers.

Aside from them, there are also other characters from season 1 that can re-emerge in The Mandalorian season 2. While a string of Mandalorians were killed in Nevarro after their secret settlement was discovered, Paz Vizla’s (Jon Favreau) helmet was notably not on the pile of discarded armors that the Armorer (Emily Swallow) was repurposing, hinting that he might have survived, which means he can return. If the show wants to introduce a romantic angle in the show, Mando reuniting with krill farmer from Sogran, Omera (Julia Jones) is one way to do that. Meanwhile, The Mandalorian can spice things up for Din by bringing back Mayfeld (Bill Burr) and his surviving crew, who may very well be hunting him down because of what he did to them the last time they teamed up. Finally, while chances are that it will only just be a cameo, it would be great to see New Republic X-wing starfighter pilots Trapper Wolf (Dave Filoni), Jib Dodger (Rick Famuyiwa), and Sash Ketter (Deborah Chow). It would be fairly easier to bring in the first two since those directors are also helming The Mandalorian season 2 episodes.

One particular character from season 1, however, has her comeback already set-up — Fennec Shand (Min-Na Wen). The character was deemed dead after Toro killed her, but it was eventually revealed that a mysterious character eventually retrieved her lifeless body, hinting that she may have survived the ordeal. No word yet on Fennec might appear in The Mandalorian season 2, but it’s safe to say that it will eventually be revealed what happened to her.
