Pedro Pascal teases some new story details for The Mandalorian season 3. First hitting Disney+ in 2019, The Mandalorian has since become one of the streamer’s most popular shows. Featuring Pascal as the titular Mandalorian, the show chronicles the bounty hunter’s attempts to protect a small creature known as Grogu, which often puts him at odds with his people’s mysterious creed. The Mandalorian season 2 concluded in December 2020, but Pascal’s character returned more recently for several episodes of The Book of Boba Fett, seeing the hero finally reunited with Grogu.

The Mandalorian season 3 remains highly anticipated by fans and is expected to release at some point in 2023. The upcoming season has been said to more fully explore the planet of Mandalore, with a number of stars returning, including Katie Sackoff as Bo-Katan Kryze, Carl Weathers as Greef Karga, Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon, and Emily Swallow as the Armorer. At Disney’s D23 Expo 2022, an event in which Disney teases their upcoming projects, the first trailer for The Mandalorian season 3 was released to general audiences, showing some of what’s to come in the upcoming episodes

In a new interview with Deadline, Pascal teases the story of The Mandalorian season 3, saying that there will be a number of significant callbacks to season 1. The actor describes the upcoming season as “epic,” teasing that various “themes and ideas” that were introduced back in the show’s first season will be even more fully explored in the new episodes. Check out Pascal’s full comment below:

“I mean it’s epic, it’s definitely epic And we’re going to get a lot of things that were introduced into the storytelling early in Season 1, themes and ideas that you’ll remember once we get into [the] full fruition of Season 3, and it’s epic, epic… but I’m not lying, it is epic… the amount of times I say ‘epic’ gives everything away, okay?”

Pascal doesn’t elaborate on what things specifically season 3 will expand upon from season 1, but The Mandalorian has continued to grow and become more ambitious with each outing. While Pascal’s Mandalorian was much more mysterious in season 1, season 2 saw the character explored in a much more significant way, delving more into his past and the identity struggles he feels in terms of his relationship with his people. The Mandalorian has always been more of a lone wolf throughout the series, but more recent episodes have seen the character open up and accept help, including from Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka.

It remains to be seen how The Mandalorian season 3 will compare to the first two seasons, but now that The Book of Boba Fett has reunited the bounty hunter with Grogu, much to the delight of fans, the two characters can traverse the galaxy as a more tightly-knit team than they were in season 1. With The Mandalorian season 3 expected to more fully explore the planet of Mandalore, it seems likely that audiences will learn more about the bounty hunter as a person, perhaps shedding light on the character’s mysterious past. While Pascal’s comment could be in reference to any number of themes, relationships, and ideas, that were introduced in The Mandalorian season 1, fans can at least be very sure that the new season will be the most epic yet.
