The Masked Singer Fans Guess Contestants Using Mask-Ray Clues

The Masked Singer season 8 has been releasing some mask-ray clues for the new contestants, and fans are using them to figure out which celebrities are competing on the show. Each time the show releases a photo of a costume from the upcoming season, they also release an x-ray video revealing a clue hidden inside the performer’s bones. The hint typically fits the theme of the costume; for example, a fly was detected inside the Venus Fly Trap. However, the hints simultaneously act as a clue for which celebrity is behind the costume. Unfortunately, the show hasn’t released much other information about the costumes yet.

The Masked Singer season 8 has completely switched up its format. When fans finished mourning the possibility of Tom Brady appearing this season after he denied the rumors, they expressed their excitement for the fun new changes. With 22 contestants, The Masked Singer has more than any other season, which plays into the show’s decision to do two eliminations per episode. Fans are also excited for theme nights, which will honor Andrew Lloyd Webber, The Muppets, Vegas and more. Panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger will all return for the new season.

With every new mask-ray clue, The Masked Singer fans are throwing out their best guesses, even if there isn’t much evidence that they’re correct. JDCavallo on Reddit shared all the mask-ray clues The Masked Singer has released so far for fans to discuss. The clue images the fan shared are the Venus Fly Trap’s fly, Sir Bug A Boo’s bow tie, Scarecrow’s crow, Hedgehog’s carrot, the Mummies’ Ka statue and the Walrus’ fish. A fan added that Bride’s ring and Avacado’s chip had also been revealed. “Venus Flytrap is probably Lenny Kravitz because of his song Fly Away,” Alarming-Butterfly90 wrote, while others agreed Darren Criss could be behind the Bug A Boo costume since his Glee character was known for wearing bow ties. Another fan theorized that singer Conan Gray might be behind the Scarecrow costume because his debut album was called Kid Krow, and the cover featured a photo of him with a crow on his shoulder.

However, the costume fans are most passionate about is the Mummies. The Masked Singer season 8 costume consists of three hidden celebrities and is one of two trio costumes (that fans know of so far). One fan did their Ka statue research and found out the statue is meant to provide a resting place after death. They connected this to the plot of the 2011 film Bernie starring Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly and Jack Black. However, another fan believes the trio may be Ken’s go-to guess of Steve Martin, Martin Short and Chevy Chase. If so, the mummies and statue could be a hint toward Steve’s song “King Tut,” which he performed during a 1978 episode of Saturday Night Live and which recently repopulated on TikTok.

It may be so early into The Masked Singer season 8 that it hasn’t even premiered yet, but that won’t stop fans from giving their best guesses based on the little information they have. It’s hard to say if any of the guesses are accurate, but usually, the show’s loyal fans catch on to things pretty quickly. For example, they’ve already recognized Harp’s voice in a recent Masked Singer season 8 trailer and think it belongs to Amber Riley. As more clues come out, they’ll likely change their stance, but once they hear the famous voices and get some official clue packages, it won’t be long before fans have figured out every secret performer coming up on The Masked Singer.
