The Masked Singer season 7 is narrowing down the competition and will eliminate two contestants during episode 3. Group A kicked off the season with performances from Cyclops, Firefly, Thingamabob, McTerrier, and Ram. During the season premiere, after McTerrier’s mask accidentally fell off during his performance, the contestant was voted off and revealed as pastry chef Duff Goldman. The following week, Firefly and Ram landed in the bottom two and went head to head in a battle round, ultimately ending in Ram’s elimination. The contestant revealed himself to be American sports commentator Joe Buck, who later announced he would be leaving Fox for ESPN.

The eliminations leave just Cyclops, Thingamabob, and Firefly for Group A. Ten other contestants are yet to take the stage, including Queen Cobra, Hydra, and Jack in the Box. In February, Fox aired a thirty-minute preview episode where fans were introduced to some of the costumes from season 7. The episode also revealed the season’s first performance, Space Bunny’s rendition of Harry Belafonte’s “Jump in the Line (Shake, Señora).” Fans online were quick to point out the similarities between the contestant’s voice and reggae singer Shaggy. They even connected the contestant’s clue, a picture of North Carolina, to Shaggy”s cover of “Oh Carolina.”

Fans are one step closer to meeting some of the other contestants from The Masked Singer season 7 as the Group A finalist will be revealed during episode 3. The Masked Singer teased in a new preview that episode 3 will be the season’s first group showdown between the three remaining Group A contestants. Host Nick Cannon announces, “Two celebrities will unmask.” The panelists appear utterly shocked by one of the reveals with Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger’s mouths dropping and  Jenny McCarthy exclaiming, “oh my god.” The preview also teases a comment from Cyclops asking to be called simply Cy, and Cyclops is his father. This may or may not be a clue to the performer’s identity.

Coming into episode 3, one contestant remains from each team. The Masked Singer season 7 switched up the format, including three teams; The Good, The Bad, and The Cuddly. Instead of handing out a Golden Ear Trophy to panelists with the most correct first impressions guesses, the panelists have been assigned a team to represent. Jenny is representing team bad, Nicole is team Good, and Ken is sharing team Cuddly with panelist Robin Thicke. The panelists are hoping that a contestant from their team will win the season 7 The Masked Singer Trophy.

The Masked Singer is certainly giving fans a lot to be excited for during episode 3. While Firefly seems to be the strongest vocally, Thingamabob blew panelists and fans away with his emotional performance last week. His passion will likely outweigh Firefly’s vocals, and he will be the contestant to move forward. Either way, fans are stoked to move on from Group A and get to meet some of the other contestants from The Masked Singer season 7.

The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
