Fans of The Mindy Project would say the show ended too soon. It had so much potential but was canceled after six quirky seasons. The Mindy Kaling show can be currently streamed on Hulu, however, as we rewatch the 117 episodes until we’ve memorized all of Mindy’s colorful outfits.

While Mindy is an educated gynecologist, she is head over heels for New York and, of course, men. We’ve seen her on her fair share of dates, engagements, breakups, and glow-ups. If there’s one thing we can take away from the show, it’s that Mindy Lahiri knew how to balance both work and play. From Danny to her quick engagement to Ben, let’s take a look back at 10 of Mindy’s relationships and rank them from worst to best.

10 Josh

Can we all agree that Josh was the worst? The two met in odd circumstances at a nightclub after he invited her to the VIP section where professional athletes were hanging out. When Mindy realized it was Josh who invited her, she was totally thrown off because she wasn’t exactly interested in him among the likes of professional athletes. However, it turned out that he was a well-known sports attorney, and did very well for himself.

The two dated for a while but he proved time and time again to be a bad egg. He made comments about her weight, about not seeing a future with her, and he even ended up cheating on her. Years after their breakup, the two got back in touch where Josh admitted to doing even worse things during their relationship. To make a long story short: he’s the worst.

9 Jamie

The Office fans were pumped to see B.J. Novak on The Mindy Project as Mindy’s love interest, Jamie. The two met at a party and totally hit it off. The only problem was that Jamie’s best friend was a woman named Lucy. The two were so close that everyone assumed they were dating — and if they weren’t, they’d make a great couple.

Mindy and Jamie got along well, but after they went on a double date with Lucy and Danny, Jame realized he’s been in love with Lucy for years (shocker) and broke it off with Mindy. Denying his love for his best friend after Mindy tried to pry it out of him was something she didn’t deserve.

8 Brendan

Even Mindy thought it was weird when she began “hanging out” with Brendan. He was her nemesis who tried stealing clients from her when he and his brother were new to the building. As midwives, they have a completely different outlook on childbirth than Mindy and co.. Nevertheless, Mindy never decided to make a move on Brendan because she wasn’t really good at one-night stands. The two saw each other secretly for a little while but Brendan’s “nice side” never came to light. He treated her like an object, didn’t respect her work, and was cold to her. These two shouldn’t have even started anything to begin with.

7 Jason

Mindy and Jason met when they were seated next to each other an airplane. She was hoping to be seated next to an attractive man, and in walks Jason. They quickly realized that didn’t have much in common based on their movie and book preferences but they had some chemistry.

They decided to date after their flight but it didn’t last long. Jason was incredibly judgmental, and even told her he didn’t see himself with someone like her in the long run. The man would be lucky to have Mindy Lahiri as his girlfriend.

6 Tom

Tom was one of the first men we get to know in The Mindy Project. The two met at the hospital and had a serious relationship. Mindy even moved in with Tom but their romance was cut short when he left her for another woman. To make matters worse, he went on to marry and invited Mindy to the wedding. Tom’s marriage doesn’t last. but he and Mindy never rekindled their romance. It’s safe to say that too much damage had been done. and it was time to move on to greener pastures.

5 Ben

In the fifth season, Mindy is fresh off her relationship with Danny when she meets a nurse named Ben at a nurses’ strike. The two had contrasting views but there seemed to be a mutual attraction. They eventually begin a short courtship, and it’s easy to see why Mindy fell for Ben. He’s smart, charismatic, handsome, and is in the medical profession. Mindy eventually convinces herself that Ben is the right one for her, and proposes to him. The two are married but later divorced. Fans believed the relationship felt forced, but compared to Mindy’s other boyfriends, Ben was a peach.

4 Charlie

Whether you’re a fan of Charlie or not, you can’t deny that he wasn’t a good fit for Mindy. The two met in strange circumstances after Mindy gave a young woman birth control pills — and that young woman happened to be his daughter. Despite their age difference and their opposite schedules, the two were a perfect match. They had a nice, playful balance. Sadly, this relationship never got off the ground because her relationship with Danny was so hot and cold.

3 Cliff

Some would say that Cliff was the one that got away. He truly loved Mindy for who she is, but things ended poorly. As a divorce attorney, Cliff had some serious trust issues that affected their relationship. Sadly, Mindy left Cliff for Danny but needed his help when she ran into tax issues, which was pretty low because Cliff was still hung up on her. Through it all, Mindy’s love for Danny outweighed her interest in Cliff, and these two called it quits.

2 Casey

Mindy meets Casey on the subway, and quickly learns that her potential beau is actually a pastor. The two have an awesome date but both are wary of seeing each other because of their respective lifestyles. Regardless of their differences, they actually had a fantastic relationship. Mindy supported Casey’s career opportunities and Casey accepted Mindy’s love for all things pop culture and New York. And while the love was there, they couldn’t make it work. It appeared to Mindy that Casey had a hard time making up his mind, and she didn’t want to be on the back end of that one day.

1 Danny

Come on, we can’t not ship Mindy and Danny. These two started off as co-workers and friends who were nothing but honest with each other. It was their refreshing honesty that made them trust each other more than their own respective partners. Over the years, it was clear their friendship had grown into admiration and love for one another, and they both followed those feelings. The two ended up getting engaged and have a baby together. And while their future is a little murky, these two really did belong together.
