The Office would have never been the same without Dwight K. Schrute (Rainn Wilson). 10 Dwight Rushes To Michael’s Aid (S2E12)

It was obvious to fans that Michael (Steve Carell) took Dwight for granted, as the guy worshipped the ground he walked on. When Dwight hears that Michael is injured, he is the first person who rushes out to pick him up. Even when he crashes his car and suffers a concussion, he still manages to get to him. It’s not the first time Dwight has looked out for Michael, as he stops him from ingesting poisonous mushrooms in the episode “Survivor Man”

The rest of this episode sees Dwight also acting kindly towards Pam, buying her a cover for her mp3 player.

9 When Dwight Comforts Pam When She Cries Over Jim (S3E11)

There was a time when Jim and Pam’s relationship was on the rocks. Season 3 began with the revelation that Jim had moved to another branch and Pam had called off her wedding to Roy. When Jim came back, he had begun a relationship with Karen (Rashida Jones), much to Pam’s dismay.

The episode “Back From Vacation” sees Jim and Karen run into some problems, which Pam helps to defuse even though she is disheartened by the relationship. Dwight later comes across her crying and immediately jumps to her defense. Although Pam says he doesn’t have to, Dwight decides to stay and comfort her.

8 When Dwight Prevented Jim From Getting Attacked (S3E11)

Fans are well aware of the love-hate relationship Dwight had with Jim (John Krasinski). Over the years, the pair have played several pranks on each other ranging from equipment being placed in Jell-O to impersonating each other. It provided quite a bit of entertainment.

Jim grew to respect Dwight more in “The Negotiation.” After Roy (David Denman) finds out that Jim kissed Pam, he storms into the office. When Roy goes to attack Jim, Dwight defends his rival salesman by pepper-spraying Roy. Dwight would later tell the cameras that he brought the spray in to protect himself and his employees, showing he does care about Jim.

7 When Dwight Entered A Bidding War For Phyllis’ Hug (S5Ep5)

Dwight and Phyllis (Phyllis Smith) struck up an unlikely friendship after she discovered his affair with Angela (Angela Kinsey). In the episode “Crime Aid,” Dwight receives a save the date for Angela’s wedding. Phyllis offers to talk to him about the situation, giving him advice about what to do.

When Angela chooses Andy (Ed Helms), Phyllis tells Dwight he deserves someone who loves him back. Although Dwight is hurt by the advice, he realizes she was just trying to help him. Dwight shows his gratitude when he ends up entering a bidding war to get a hug from her. He loses but is pleased for Phyllis when it ends up being the most successful item at the auction.

6 When Dwight Fixed Up The Halpert House (S6E17/18)

“The Delivery Part 1” and “Part 2” sees Dwight make an underrated gesture for the Halperts. When Pam goes into labor, Dwight volunteers to pick up her iPod. However, while he is searching the house for the device he finds the kitchen has mold.

Dwight takes it upon himself to take apart the kitchen and replace all the appliances and cupboards. When Jim and Pam come back to the house after being released from the hospital, Dwight promises he would finish the job within the next few days. Instead of thanking him, Jim and Pam just walk away not realizing he had renovated their kitchen for free.

5 When Dwight Lets Pam “Win” To Build Her Confidence (S7E10)

Dwight proved himself to be a great friend in the episode “China” when he helps to build Pam’s confidence. Since Dwight owns the building, the office workers all complain about the standards he is leaving it in. Pam threatens to move the office if he doesn’t make some changes.

Dwight and Pam fight, but it comes to a head when he hears her confess fears of failing her job. Dwight makes his assistant Nate (Mark Proksch) give Pam a book that shows him to be breaking the law. The beet farmer says he wasn’t motivated by compassion, but the scenes show Dwight to be smiling at Pam’s happiness.

4 When Dwight Comforts Kevin (S7E18)

Dwight may not have got on with his colleagues, but they all shared a mutual hatred of Todd Packer (David Koechner). Todd is known to have a crass personality, often offending and hurting his colleagues with many gestures and jibes. This was the case in the episode “Todd Packer” when Michael decides to hire Packer as a full-time salesman.

When Todd insults Kevin (Brian Baumgartner) about his weight, Dwight comforts the accountant; he says that in sumo culture, Kevin would be considered a promising up-and-comer. Kevin is somewhat comforted by Dwight’s statement.

3 When Dwight Sticks Up For Erin (S8E12)

For most of season 8, fans watched as Erin pined for Andy. In the episode “Pool Party,” she decides to try and make Andy jealous by asking Dwight if he would help her. Dwight and Erin pretend to flirt but are unsuccessful in getting Andy’s attention.

Dwight approaches Andy to try and vouch for Erin, attempting to make him jealous. Yet, the Regional Manager remains oblivious to his agenda, giving Dwight his blessing to pursue Erin. Dwight then calls Andy an idiot for not noticing how much Erin cares about him. He walks away after this.

2 When Dwight Helps Pam Get Revenge For The Mural (S9E14)

It was easy for fans to see that Dwight had a soft spot for Pam, so it was no surprise that he was one of the few people to help her get revenge. In the episode “Vandalism,” Pam seeks revenge on the culprit who had defaced the mural she had been working on.

Dwight and Nellie (Catherine Tate) help Pam investigate and soon find out it was warehouse worker Frank (Brad William Henke). When they find out how much he loves his truck, Dwight helps Pam deface it by drawing a replica of her mural. He also takes delight in Pam’s work, complimenting.

1 When Dwight Fires Jim And Pam (S9E25)

With Jim and Pam planning on moving to Philadelphia, they hadn’t yet told Dwight, who was now Regional Manager. By this time, Dwight had come to form strong relationships with his office co-workers and put his feud with Jim to rest. In the show’s final episode, he calls Jim, Pam and himself “the three amigos.”

When the couple tells him, they are taken aback when Dwight fires them. They believe that he is overreacting, but Dwight tells them he is only doing it so they can get the severance. The moment was all the more heart-warming when Dwight declares in his last talking head that Pam is his best friend.
