The Office’s sweethearts, Jim and Pam, are still considered to be an iconic dream team to this day. The couple had their share of ups and downs throughout the series’ nine seasons, Jim and Pam are far from perfect, but their romance has still aged exceptionally well.

Often being regarded as the heart of the entire show, The Office almost always portrayed Jim and Pam’s dynamic in an emotional, heartfelt light – more so than any other relationship on the show. Their bond began when they were simply coworkers, and it blossomed into an adorable friendship, and eventually, a swoon-worthy romance.

10 WHEN PAM’S BEEN TELLING HER MOM ABOUT JIM – PERFECT

Jim and Pam were the series’ will-they-won’t-they couple up until their friendship ultimately blossomed into romance in season 4. The adorable moments leading up to their romance were nothing short of magic, though. The writers laid a solid, believable foundation for Jim and Pam’s dynamic.

In an early episode of The Office, in which Pam’s mom comes for a much-anticipated visit to Dunder Mifflin, it’s revealed to Jim that Pam may harbor some feelings for him – just as he does for her. Pam’s mom arrives at the office and is introduced to everyone. She whispers to Pam, “So, which one is Jim?”.

9 WHEN JIM NEGLECTS TO MENTION PAM DURING HIS DUNDIE ACCEPTANCE SPEECH – QUESTIONABLE

Jim and Pam’s relationship didn’t exactly hit turbulence until The Office‘s final season, so this less than picture-perfect moment is often overlooked because the series never addressed it again. Season 7 was Michael Scott’s final season, so the show had a lot to do before the beloved boss departed – including one last Dundies.

In the episode “Michael’s Last Dundies”, the Dunder Mifflin employees receive many ridiculous and trivial awards – which was always the case in this “award” ceremony. When Jim wins Best Dad, he delivers a small, half-hearted speech, but neglects to thank or mention Pam at all.

8 THEIR FIRST KISS – PERFECT

In the season 2 finale, The Office ignited the hearts of fans everywhere with Jim and Pam’s long-awaited,  much anticipated first kiss. It’s important to note that this was not the start of their romantic relationship; the show revealed that the duo indeed had feelings for each other, but season 3 presented a lot of drama and a significant rift between them.

Despite the fact that Jim and Pam’s happily ever after would not happen until season 4, their first kiss lives on as one of the most unforgettable moments in the series. Seeing Jim bare his soul to Pam and tell her how he felt, is still a moment that makes us swoon today.

7 WHEN JIM TRIES TO ABANDON PAM AT THE DISASTROUS DINNER PARTY – QUESTIONABLE

Dinner Party is often cited as being one of the most hilarious episodes in the history of The Office. The primary focus of this season 4 episode was to convey the problematic nature of Michael and Jan’s relationship. Dinner Party took place early in Jim and Pam’s blossoming romance, so the couple was still very new when Michael invented them to what would end up being an epic disaster.

Everyone becomes uncomfortable and awkward when tensions rise between Jan and Michael and the true nature of their relationship is eventually revealed. Jim makes a quick attempt to leave, but he neglects Pam. His attempt to abandon her in Michael’s relationship drama was played for comedic purposes, but was still not a cool move.

6 WHEN JIM FAKE PROPOSES TO PAM – PERFECT

One of the most unique and beautiful things about Jim and Pam was that everyone – including themselves – knew they were going to be together forever, as soon as their romance began. They had a will-they-won’t-they dynamic for three seasons, so when their relationship finally developed into something more, Jim knew that Pam was “the one”, and vice versa.

Fake proposals are usually considered to be in bad taste, but in Jim and Pam’s case, the couple made this notorious trope something completely adorable.

5 THE REAL PROPOSAL – QUESTIONABLE

After so much build-up, the anticipation surrounded Jim and Pam’s engagement was palpable in both the characters and the audience. After several fake proposals, fans were ready for Jim’s real proposal to be something spectacular.

But then…he proposed to her on a rainy day at a rest stop. For such a beloved couple, this engagement just didn’t feel right.

4 THEIR WEDDING – PERFECT

Pam’s pregnancy was revealed after her engagement to Jim and before their wedding. Pam was about five months pregnant with their first child when the wedding took place. This made for a rather tumultuous ceremony, with the couple’s attempt to hide Pam’s pregnancy from one of her conservative relatives.

But the wedding – spanning throughout a two-parter episode titled “Niagara” – was nothing short of perfect. Everything about the episodes proved that Jim and Pam were soulmates.

3 WHEN JIM MAKES PAM CRY – QUESTIONABLE

Jim and Pam did not start to have serious problems in their marriage until The Office’s final season. The sudden turbulence that the dream team’s relationship hit came as a surprise to the audience since prior seasons portrayed their romance as being nothing short of perfect.

In the midst of the drama Jim caused by joining a Philidelphia-based company called Athlead, he snaps coldly at Pam over the phone and causes her to break down into tears. This is not only a sad moment but what makes it worse is that it fed into the whole Brian The Boom-Mic Guy storyline.

2 WHEN PAM LEAVES JIM A BUNCH OF VOICEMAILS – PERFECT

The early seasons of The Office had no shortage of adorable Jim and Pam moments, and this was mainly due to the fact that they were not yet a couple. Audiences were treated to some significant swoon-worthy moments that worked to progress Jim and Pam’s relationship from friendship to something more.

After a hard day spent out of Dunder Mifflin with Michael, Jim comes back to his desk and picks up his phone to discover a plethora of hilarious, adorable voicemails from Pam.

1 JIM’S SELFISH BEHAVIOR – QUESTIONABLE

The main problem that severely disrupted Jim and Pam’s relationship and almost brought them to the brink of a divorce, was Jim’s wish to move to Philidelphia.

He invested in Athlead without telling Pam, he snuck around behind her back to work at this company, he took the job in Philly without consulting her – and he did it all to fulfill a dream for himself, not his family. That’s pretty low, and it’s moments like those that taint the beauty of this relationship that we saw in earlier seasons.
