The Office remains as one of the most influential and beloved shows of the 21st century. Just recently, the mockumentary was reported as the most-watched TV series on Netflix in 2018. That alone shows how much people crave seeing Michael Scott’s idiotic, yet hilarious, management decisions, Jim and Pam’s blooming romance, and Dwight’s battle to one day be promoted from Assitant (to the) Regional Manager.

However, The Office ended its run in 2013, so the cast has obviously moved on to feature in other projects. Which begs the question: where are they now?

17 Darryl Philbin – Craig Robinson

After years working in Dunder Mifflin, Darryl’s career skyrocketed when he moved to Austin, Texas to be part of the new, yet already successful sports marketing company Athleap. Craig Robinson’s career after The Office, on the other hand, hasn’t moved the same way. He has mostly stuck to small roles in a variety of movies and cameos in TV shows; most of it being comedies. Nowadays his most famous active role is the recurring character of Doug Judy (aka The Pontiac Bandit) in Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

16 Toby Flenderson – Paul Lieberstein

Paul Lieberstein isn’t really an actor. Besides his iconic role as Michael Scott’s biggest enemy, Toby Flenderson, he is first and foremost a writer and director. His biggest contribution as both a writer and director still remains on the set of The Office, though, as he acted as its showrunner for most of the show’s second half. Following the end of the show, Lieberstien remained mostly quiet. His best accomplishment was his feature film directorial debut in The Song of Back and Neck in 2018.

15 Kelly Kapoor – Mindy Kaling

Kaling has been very active since the end of The Office. Her most prominent work came from the six-season show The Mindy Project, written by, directed by, produced by, and starring herself.

Apart from that, Kaling has starred in a couple of blockbuster movies over the years including voiceovers in Inside Out and Ralph Breaks The Internet, and acting roles in Ocean’s 8 and A Wrinkle in Time.

14 Jim Halpert – John Krasinski

Besides Steve Carell, John Krasinski is the most popular actor to come out of The Office. Over the years, he has garnered many acting roles in many different movies, including the lead role in Michael Bay’s 13 Hours, and the recently rebooted Jack Ryan TV series. His greatest achievements have surprisingly arrived from behind the camera, though.

John Krasinski created the popular show Lip Sync Battle in 2015 and serves as its executive producer. Most importantly, he wrote, directed, and starred in the immensely critically acclaimed film A Quiet Place (along with his wife, Emily Blunt).

13 Erin Hannon – Ellie Kemper

The loveable, dumb-witted receptionist became a fan-favorite after her introduction in season five. Nowadays, she is best known for playing the lead role in the Netflix comedy series The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt; a performance that gave her two Emmy nominations. In the world of cinema, she is mostly known for her roles in 21 Jump Street, Bridesmaids, and her voice acting in The Secret Life of Pets and The Lego Batman Movie.

12 Stanley Hudson – Leslie David Baker

The Office ended on a happy note for Stanley, seeing him lose his pessimistic, grouchy personality as he happily retired to Florida.

In real life, Leslie David Baker hasn’t exactly retired but he’s done nothing other than a few short-acting stunts here and there. Most people now would probably know him from either one of his multiple TV cameos, or his voice role in Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. And no, he did not stutter.

11 Ryan Howard – BJ Novak

Post-Office BJ Novak is in a way very different, yet also very similar to the character he portrayed for nine seasons. From the start, Ryan tried to become an entrepreneur. Unfortunately, his career never took off, and the most he did was develop a failed website. Novak has a similar approach to life, although he is far less of a jerk and much more successful. Since The Office, he wrote and published two books and created an iOS app. In addition to this, his acting is still going fairly strong, having been a part of both award-winning and blockbuster films such as Inglourious BasterdsThe Amazing Spider-Man 2, and The Founder.

10 Pam Beesly – Jenna Fischer

After leaving her character happily married to Jim Halpert, Fischer starred in The Giant Mechanical Man, a film directed by her husband Lee Kirk.

On TV, her most notable work came from NBC’s You, Me and The Apocalypse, where she was part of the main cast, and the ABC sitcom Splitting Up Together, where she currently plays the main character. In 2017, the actress also published her first book, The Actor’s Life: A Survival Guide.

9 Phyllis Lapin-Vance – Phyllis Smith

Despite Michael Scott calling Phyllis the “grandmother of the office,” the actress behind the role is quite the opposite, or is at least a very active grandmother. In 2015, Smith finally stopped being referred to as just “Phyllis from The Office” when she provided the critically acclaimed voice for Sadness in Pixar’s hugely successful Inside Out. Her other big contribution to her career is happening on TV, as a main cast member of Netflix’s popular sci-fi series The OA.

8 Dwight Schrute – Rainn Wilson

Dwight finally got what he was chasing for all his life when he was promoted to regional manager. Fortunately, Rainn Wilson’s life has been much more interesting and successful than that. The actor made himself known in Hollywood by voicing the main villains in both Monsters vs Aliens and Smurfs: The Lost Village. He was also recently featured heavily on last summer’s blockbuster The Meg. Like his co-star BJ Novak, he entered the world of entrepreneurship when he created the successful digital media company SoulPancake in 2008. He also published an autobiography titled The Bassoon King.

7 Kevin Malone – Brian Baumgartner

Everyone’s favorite hilarious, giant baby. Like many cast members, Brian Baumgartner has mostly stuck to making one-time appearances in a variety of TV shows.

He is therefore not really known for anything besides his role as Kevin Malone. He now enjoys being with his wife and daughter, and, as an experienced golf player, takes pleasure in spending the day on the golf course.

6 Angela Martin – Angela Kinsey

The Office ended on a very sweet note, with Angela and Dwight finally sealing the deal on their decade-long on-again-off-again relationship. Since then, Angela (the actor, not the character) has prolonged her career in television. Besides offering up a variety of different cameos, she was a series regular on Hulu’s The Hotwives, and the Netflix comedy Haters Back Off. Office fans will like to hear that when she’s not on set, she hangs out a lot with her very close friend Jenna Fischer (aka Pam Beesly)!

5 Creed Bratton – Creed Bratton

Creed Bratton is famous for playing Creed Bratton. A character who is always present in the background, but who occasionally speaks and creates some of the shows’ funniest moments. Before being the actor who played the crazy office-worker Creed, he was a musician and was even part of a popular band, The Grass Roots, in the ’60s. Nowadays, music is basically all he does, as he goes around the world on tour performing solo for music fans. It’s also a chance for Office fans to see their favorite character live!

4 Andy Bernard – Ed Helms

Ed Helms has been one of the few cast members, along with Carrell and Krasinski, to become a famous film star outside of The Office.

He quickly rose to stardom in Hollywood with his role in The Hangover trilogy, while starring in various other popular movies and shows. His most recent big acting role arrived in 2017 when he provided the voice for Captain Underpants himself in Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. Like his character, Helms also has some musical talent and occasionally performs with bluegrass band The Lonesome Trio.

3 Oscar Martinez – Oscar Nunez

Here we have the fourth (and final) actor to share his first name with the character he plays on The Office. Oscar Nunez clearly hit his peak form in the nine-season phenomenon when he portrayed accountant Oscar Martinez. Since its finale, he has settled for a series of random television cameos. His most distinguished work comes from either his main role in the short-lived comedy series Benched or his regular appearance in TBS’s People of Earth.

2 Meredith Palmer – Kate Flannery

Kate Flannery has been active since 2013 but has deviated nearly completely from television and film. Apart from a few cameos in low-budget movies and comedy series, she is concentrating on her live comedy, with her improv group The Lampshades. She has also been busy working on her music and stage career alongside Glee’s Jane Lynch. She has appeared in a few Off-Broadway shows and was featured in Lynch’s highly successful Christmas album A Swingin’ Little Christmas.

1 Michael Scott – Steve Carell

The main reason behind the show’s massive success, Michael Scott has become one of television’s most iconic fictional characters. Steve Carell, on the other hand, has since become one of Hollywood’s most popular actors.

Throughout his post-Office acting career, Carell took on the role of Gru from the Despicable Me franchise and landed many roles in many Oscar-nominated movies. These include Foxcatcher, The Big Short, and Vice. For Foxcatcher, he even managed to rack up an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Steve Carell rise from TV comedian to Oscar-nominated actor has been a surprising, yet deserving one. In Michael Scott’s words: “Well, well, well. How the turntables…”
