Upon switching streaming services at the start of next year, seasons 3 through 9 of The Office will only be available on Peacock Premium. NBC’s beloved workplace comedy has become a fan favorite over the years, even after going off the air in 2013. Adopting a mockumentary format, The Office follows the everyday employees of regional paper company Dunder Mifflin. From hilariously inappropriate manager Michael Scott (Steve Carell) to prankster Jim Halpert (John Krasinski), audiences grew deeply attached to the dysfunctional co-workers over the course of nine seasons.

One of the reasons The Office has remained such an enduring series is that for years it was available on Netflix. Fans who didn’t watch the show while it was on could catch it on streaming, and then return for repeat viewings. Unfortunately, that reign will come an end along with 2020, as The Office will depart Netflix at the end of December. It will move to NBC’s burgeoning service Peacock in 2021, making it the most enticing piece of content available.

Peacock is going all out in bringing The Office into its ranks, as a new announcement has unveiled the plans it has in store for the sitcom. Every single episode of The Office will be available on Peacock, though only a handful will be for free. Seasons 3 and 9 will only be included with Peacock Premium, which costs $4.99 a month (or $9.99 for ad-free viewing). The first two seasons will be free for everyone. Those who sign up for Peacock Premium will also gain access to The Office: Superfan Episodes, which will include never-before-seen content and will roll out over the next few months. A clip from one of those Superfan Episodes has been released and can be seen down below.

Additionally, The Office creator Greg Daniels said in a statement:

“Having The Office back in the NBC family opens up access to a lot of extra content that we originally shot. The team at Peacock wanted to create the ultimate destination for fans, so I went back into the dailies with the original editors of the show and found some never-before-seen footage that was cut for time but is still fun to see. You can choose to watch the classic version of the show, or the superfan extended cuts with this new footage and other deleted scenes that we are gradually rolling out, starting with season 3. The experience on Peacock should feel like a celebration of The Office for fans.”

To further highlight just how big Peacock is going for The Office‘s debut, the service will include additional behind the scenes footage, curated themed episode collections, and clip playlists highlighting topics like Jim’s best pranks and his best moments with Pam (Jenna Fischer). Plus, there will be The Office Zen, a 24/7 channel supplying ambient office noises for those working at home, and dedicated Office channels on GIPHY and TikTok. Finally, Spanish audio and closed captions will be added in February.

Needless to say, Peacock is creating a full Office experience. This isn’t too surprising, seeing as the comedy is arguably the streaming service’s biggest selling point right now. It’s disappointing that much of the series won’t be available for free, and that could even turn off those who don’t want to pay for Peacock just to watch it. At the same time, Peacock hasn’t done much to establish itself as a must-have service, and by creating a haven for Office fans, it is at least making an effort to win over die-hards who want easy access to the show. It remains to be seen how successful this strategy will be, but it all begins on January 1.
