After Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen started out playing Michelle Tanner on Full House, they started playing numerous other characters in their own movies. There were family-friendly classics like How The West Was Fun and To Grandmother’s House We Go, and as they grew up, there were exciting stories that featured drool-worthy locations and cute love interests.

A big part of the Olsen twins’ films was the wardrobe, especially as they became pre-teens then teenagers. There were some truly iconic looks from them, back in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s… and their 10 most memorable on-screen ones are listed below!

10 All The Matching Outfits In Double, Double, Toil, and Trouble

Double, Double, Toil and Trouble was full of witches, magic, and Halloween fun, and the twins received several opportunities to wear matching outfits. There were plaid dresses over bright leggings, with jackets over them; there were plaid dresses with cute collars; and there were those robes, which they topped off with creepy makeup. How iconic!

9 Their Overalls In It Takes Two

A fan favorite Mary-Kate and Ashley flick is It Takes Two; their characters were strangers, and after meeting, they worked to get Kirstie Alley’s and Steve Guttenberg’s characters together. 

Everyone is surely familiar with this moment, showing these actresses in overalls. As in most of their movies and in real life, they played very different roles (one was a tomboy, while the other was a rich, spoiled girl). That was echoed in how they styled these darling outfits. 

8 These Iconic Sunglasses From Billboard Dad

In 1998, Billboard Dad was released, and it also featured some legendary looks. In particular, these stars were seen in these tiny oval sunglasses, which were all the rage then and which have made a comeback, too.

One that really stands out would be these dresses; it was common for the sisters to wear the same clothing item but in different colors. And those who watched and rewatched Passport To Paris for sure remember these dresses with spaghetti straps. 

Oh, and those little tendrils hanging down around their faces from their updos… like cherries on top of a sundae!

Without a doubt, the most memorable ensembles from Our Lips Are Sealed were these dresses. Sure, there were tons and tons of dresses seen on these two in their flicks, but there were never any others with such bold stripes and bright colors. These have become classics, as they were so vibrant and so retro.

Some may say the best outfits were seen in Winning London, which came out in 2001. Of course, on the cover, bucket hats and trench coats were seen. On their own, these pieces can make a real statement. And as trendsetters, Mary-Kate and Ashley combined these garments, as well as added several other notable pieces, as seen below.

Yes, a good amount of mixing and layering happened in this movie, but it was all so fabulous. Not everyone could pull off those sun shades. Not everyone would be daring enough to even try on those pants. And not everyone could work a plaid hat.

For many, when they picture outfits seen in films starring the Olsen twins, they picture those “I heart New York” shirts. Those tees are a staple for tourists visiting the city, and these girls put their own twists on them in New York Minute. And it is quite likely that their viewers went out and purchased their own after seeing this.

Finally, there were these looks, which were also from New York Minute and which also showed how opposite their characters could be.

One was looking prim and polished in pink, while the other was serving up a grunge look in a Metallica T-shirt. Both are awesome, though!
