The Pack: Kentucky’s Dog Derby’s Breed, Tricks, Age, Personality & Weight

On Amazon Prime’s The Pack, dogs and their owners join forces to compete in competitions around the world. Kioni “Kentucky” Russell Gallahue and his dog Derby are one of twelve canine and owner pairs featured in the competition. Though the reality competition showcases many adorable dogs, Kentucky and Derby immediately captured the viewers’ attention thanks to their matching blue mullets.

The Pack premiered on Amazon Prime Video on November 20. It is hosted by Olympic gold medalist skier Lindsey Vonn and co-hosted by her adorable dog Lucy. The competition chronicles teams as they compete globally, from Los Angeles to Paris and beyond. The challenges are designed to test canine and human endurance and intelligence. The Pack’s grand prize is $500,000 and an additional $250,000 goes to a charity of the winning team’s choice. Kentucky and his adorable Goldendoodle Derby chose to play for the Helen Woodward Animal Center.

The unique bond between Derby and his owner was explored by People. Derby was re-homed to Kentucky by a caring family who wasn’t able to adequately provide for the lovable pup. Kentucky welcomed Derby into his home and helped him develop confidence and enthusiasm. Meanwhile, Derby was able to bring joy to Kentucky’s life during a dark period. Together, the two happily reside in San Diego, California. In addition to having a blue mullet and frequently wearing sunglasses, Derby is known on his Derby California Instagram as a “Surf Dog.” Derby is quite the talented canine, as the Goldendoodle enjoys surfing alongside Kentucky.

What else can the dog with the blue mullet excel at? In addition to surfing, Derby enjoys engaging in a variety of crazy activities, including riding motorcycles. He remains supported by his human family and has proven himself to be a very loyal dog. Unsurprisingly, since he and his human have so much style, Derby and Kentucky push a mantra of self-acceptance. The fun-loving dog has an adventurous personality. Derby is always willing to explore new activities alongside Kentucky. Now around four years old, the daring dog still has plenty of energy. See Derby in action below:

In addition to adventure, Derby was involved in his own reality series romance. When he met dog groomer and fellow contestant Joshua White’s dog Snow on The Pack, it was love at first sight for the two pooches. Snow, a lovable poodle, also sports uniquely dyed fur, making the two a match in unicorn canine heaven. For those wondering if the dogs are still together, a December 7 Instagram update revealed that they are still an item. The Californian dogs were confirmed to be very much in love. It was even suggested that a wedding might on the table in the near future.
