Donald Faison’s Booster Gold has just joined Legends of Tomorrow, and there’s no better pick for his robotic sidekick Skeets than Faison’s Scrubs’ co-star Zach Braff. After years of wishing for Booster Gold in Legends of Tomorrow, audiences finally got to see the time-traveling hero join the Arrowverse. Although Faison had his casting announced weeks before the finale, it wasn’t until the last episode of Legends of Tomorrow season 7 that his character showed up.

Legends of Tomorrow‘s Booster Gold marks the second live-action version of the DC hero. The character had previously appeared in the final season of Smallville, and since then has never been given another chance in live-action movies or shows. Ironically, Booster Gold is a superhero who’s always looking for the spotlight. Alongside the time traveler can always be found Skeets, a small robot powered by artificial intelligence that Booster Gold can always count on.

Zach Braff voicing Skeets alongside Donald Faison’s Booster Gold is one of those opportunities too good not to be considered. It would be the perfect chance for the iconic Scrubs duo to reunite again. While not a full comedy, Legends of Tomorrow could accommodate the humorous dynamic that Braff and Faison showed on Scrubs, with Braff as main character J.D. and Faison as his best friend Christopher Turk. Although Braff and Faison have a podcast and even appeared together in a 2022 Super Bowl ad, the Scrubs duo has yet to reunite on a movie or TV show. A possible Legends of Tomorrow season 8 would most likely bring in Booster Gold’s best robotic pal Skeets, and it having Braff doing the voice for the character could deliver great moments.

The fact that Booster Gold was introduced in Legends of Tomorrow without the company of Skeets means the show has more time to come up with the perfect actor to play the futuristic robot. Braff as Skeets in Legends of Tomorrow season 8 would be a self-aware casting choice, no doubt, but that has never stopped Legends before. The Arrowverse show that takes itself least seriously has seen several meta-castings, such as Brandon Routh — who for years had played Ray Palmer on Legends of Tomorrow — as Superman Returns’ version of Superman and former John Constantine actor Matt Ryan as the original character Gwyn Davies. A few years earlier, The Flash had already done something similar by reuniting former Prison Break stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell as the super-villain duo Captain Cold and Heat-Wave. Imagining that Legends of Tomorrow would bring in Scrubs‘ best friends as Booster Gold and Skeets isn’t at all far-fetched.

Should Legends of Tomorrow season 8 happen, then the show has to at least try to get Zach Braff to play Skeets alongside Donald Faison’s Booster Gold. Not much is yet known about the show’s plans for the newest Legends of Tomorrow character, but there can’t be Booster without Skeets. Whether the reunion of Scrubs in the form of DC Comics characters will happen first depends on whether Legends of Tomorrow gets renewed.
