Amazon has released a brand-new trailer for their forthcoming adaptation of the sci-fi novel The Peripheral, starring Chloë Grace Moretz. Based on the 2014 book of the same name by William Gibson, The Peripheral revolves around a woman named Flynne Fisher. Flynne lives in the rural American South and works at a local 3D printing shop, while also earning some extra cash playing VR games for rich people. One day, when she dons her friend’s new VR helmet, she gets transported 70 years ahead in time to a futuristic London. The series also stars Jack Reynor (Midsommar), Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders), Gary Carr, Eli Goree, JJ Feild, Adelind Horan, and T’Nia Miller.

Amazon has dropped an official teaser trailer for the series, putting the spotlight on Grace Moretz as she finds herself torn between the present and the future. The trailer offers a glimpse of the show’s dystopian version of London that Flynne will have to navigate through the time-traveling “game.” Check out the full trailer below:

After making a name for herself in films like Kick-Ass,The Equalizer, and her most recent Netflix movie Mother/Android, The Peripheral marks Grace Moretz’s first starring live-action television project. The fact that Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are involved will undoubtedly heighten expectations for the series. With Amazon currently riding high on the recent release of the fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, the streaming giant will be hoping that The Peripheral has a similar impact on their more sci-fi-centric viewers. Audiences can tune into The Peripheral when the series premieres on October 21, 2022, on Amazon Prime Video.
