Ned Flanders, the nosy, very religious left-handed neighbor to the Simpson family on the long-running animated sitcom The Simpsons, is hi-diddly-ho-hilarious. While he’s often well-meaning, his heavy focus on his religious beliefs makes him a bit much to handle, as is his overly-positive and always cheerful attitude.

He is a devout Christian and is often quick to criticize the Simpsons for their devious, un-Godly behavior, even though he does so in the nicest way possible.

So, it comes as no surprise that the Internet has gone wild with funny memes featuring this mustached, green shirt-wearing resident of Springfield. Here are a few of the funniest ones we came across.

10 Be A Good Neighbor

Flanders takes being a good neighbor to the extreme, often getting into everyone else’s business when he shouldn’t, and preaching the good word to anyone who will listen (and even those who don’t.)

Residing next door to the Simpsons with his wife (until she passed), two children, and mother, he runs The Leftorium, a shop that specializes in products for left-handed people. While he’s always willing to help, his good-natured self often means that he oversteps, making him more of an annoying neighbor than a good one.

9 I Am The Danger!

A cute play on one of the most popular lines from the AMC series Breaking Bad, and its protagonist Walter White, a.k.a. Heisenberg, a high school chemistry teacher turned drug lord, this meme will have you in stitches.

Featuring Flanders as White, complete with his signature mustache and green shirt combined with Walter’s menacing stare, the quote is still totally Ned-ified by adding his signature “diddly” and “dang” terms to it. Because, of course, Flanders would never be caught swearing, and he’d make even the most vicious line cutesy.

8 Christ Is Watching

Flanders would often peer into the Simpsons’ window, finding the family engaging in some kind of behavior that he felt was not acceptable in the eyes of God. It’s a wonder the family left the curtains often so often, knowing that his wandering eyes would always be looking in.

As if he believed he was God’s eyes on Earth, Flanders is that neighbor who always seems to know what’s going on and will shake his head disapprovingly at you if he heard you yell at your child or caught you getting up to no good.

7 Darn!

The Parental Advisory stamp on the side of this meme is what makes it truly hilarious. To most, saying the word “darn” is actually avoiding using a true curve word. It isn’t an explicit word, but any true fan of The Simpsons knows that Flanders would never use any word to describe negative feelings that didn’t have a “diddly” or “dang” or “arooni” in it.

So the fact that the word “darn” is written in prominent red lettering above his face is a clear contrast to the character. Hence the need for the advisory. If Flanders’ kids saw this, what would they think of dear old dad using such explicit language? We can also be pretty sure that Flanders doesn’t listen to Kendric Lamar.

6 Diddly, Doodly

Anyone who knows the character from this highly-successful and iconic series knows that “diddly” and “doodly” are common words in his vocabulary. He usually adds them to actual words, like “hi-diddly-ho” instead of simply saying “hi” or “hello.”

So, as this meme suggests, “diddly” and “doodly” would equally be used to describe the two extremes of his personality. You don’t want to get Flanders angry and see him at his “doodliest.” God forbid, he might even say the word “darn!” (Though, let’s face it: probably not.)

5 Everyone Has a Flanders

No statement has ever been so true. No matter where you live, whether it’s in the city, a small-town residential neighborhood, or even apartment complex, everyone has a neighbor who’s like Flanders.

They might not be to the extreme, but they are either always overly positive and cheerful, wanting to chat you up every time they see you (when you just want to get home!) or spew their religious or other beliefs at you when you have no interest in hearing them.

4 Close the Curtains!

As noted above, Ned would often hover around the Simpsons’ home and see what they were up to through the open curtains. Wherever you are, chances are there’s a Ned Flanders-type person milling about. So, if you don’t want them to see what you’re doing, close the curtains!

While Flanders never caught Homer and Marge making love, as this meme suggests, you get the picture. Keep your private life private because you never know when a Ned Flanders might walk by the window.

3 My Life Is A Lie

Flanders has never been seen without his mustache. He never adds any other facial hair, and never shaves it off. It is a part of him. So, to believe that the mustache isn’t actually real? Say it ain’t so!

Especially from someone like Flanders who prides himself on acceptance and love, being truthful, and not judging people by their outward appearance, how could he have fooled us all along? It’s a torturous thought! And that internal torture about something you’ve believed to be real for decades only to find out it wasn’t is perfectly illustrated in this clever meme.

2 No Thanks, Dad

As a very religious person, Flanders believes in everything in the Bible, including the creation of the Earth, humans, animals, and life itself. Science isn’t really his forte nor interest.

So, as this meme shows, if your kids decide they don’t want your help with their science homework, you might feel like a Flanders. They might not ask you for different reasons. For Flanders, it’s likely because, rather than teach them about the actual source material, he might try to question it because it isn’t part of the Bible.

1 Wants the Diddly

This is so atypical of Flanders, but this meme hilariously has his body on a ripped, muscle-laden male body with a green leaf suggesting that someone “wants the diddly.”

The sexually suggestive nature of the meme pokes fun at Flanders’ highly religious beliefs, turning him into a type of cartoon sex symbol. Might this actually be how Flanders talks to his wife in the bedroom, or what his body looks like under his loose shirt? Probably not. But you never know.
