Homer and Marge are the main couple in The Simpsons, but over the years, Homer has had other love interests, though he always comes back to Marge. Created by Matt Groening, The Simpsons started as a series of animated shorts in The Tracey Ullman Show in 1987, but after three seasons, it was developed into a half-hour prime time show, making its official debut on Fox in 1989. Since then, The Simpsons has become the longest-running animated American series and even though its quality has been in decline for years, it shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.

The Simpsons follows the title family and their many adventures in the fictional town of Springfield and beyond, along with those of their closest friends and a couple of enemies. Over the course of more than 30 seasons, the Simpsons have gone through all types of problems, not only with other citizens and even foreigners but also among the family members, as they are not exactly a model family. Although they are the main couple of the series, Homer and Marge have gone through some bad times in their marriage, but they always find a way to solve them and get back together, and among those rough moments in their relationship have been some “infidelities” from Homer, of which some went a bit too far while others were nothing more than flirting, and not always from Homer’s part.

First is Lurleen Lumpkin, who made her first appearance in The Simpsons in season 3’s episode “Colonel Homer”. After an argument with Marge at the movies, Homer drives to a bar where he meets a waitress and singer named Lurleen, and he soon becomes her manager, much to Marge’s disgust. Lurleen soon tries to seduce Homer but he chooses his family and tells her he only wanted to share her talents with the world. Then came Mindy Simmons (voiced by Michelle Pfeiffer), who appeared in season 5’s episode “The Last Temptation of Homer”. In it, Mindy arrives at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant when the Department of Labor demands that Mr. Burns makes changes to the plant’s policies and hires at least one woman. Mindy is an attractive redhead who turns out to have a lot in common with Homer, such as a love for beer, junk food, and TV, so Homer ends up having a crush on her. Although it’s hard for him as Mindy is attracted to Homer too, he resists and stays faithful to Marge.

Next is Amber Pai Gow (Simpson), a waitress working in Las Vegas and who Homer met in season 10’s episode “Viva Ned Flanders”, where he and Ned Flanders go to Las Vegas. After a drunken night, Homer and Ned wake up in a hot tub and learn that the previous night they married two waitresses that served them drinks at Neros Palace: Ned married Ginger, and Homer married Amber. They leave them and move on, but Amber and Ginger later track them down, and as Homer can’t annul the marriage, the Simpsons trick Amber into marrying Grampa. Sadly, Amber dies of an overdose in season 18. Last but not least is Julia (voiced by Maya Rudolph), who appeared in season 19’s episode “The Homer of Seville”. In it, after an accident, Homer learns that he can sing in an operatic voice and becomes a big sensation, with crazed fans following him everywhere. Julia saves him and Marge from an angry mob of fans and becomes his manager, but she begins to try to seduce him, and after Homer refuses, she tries to kill him.

Although Homer has been close to cheating on Marge (it can be debated if his drunk marriage to Amber counts), truth is that she will always be the one who owns his heart, no matter how many times other people try to break and end their relationship. It’s funny, however, how Lurleen tried to seduce him when he was her manager and how many seasons later it was Homer’s manager who tried to take him away from his family, and these surely won’t be the only times someone attempts to mess with the lead couple of The Simpsons.
