The Simpsons are one of the most classic TV families of all time. The show has gone on for over 30 seasons now. In that time, we’ve watched the family move to different cities, see different versions of the future, make big personal growth changes, and even meet tons of different celebrities. And we’ve also seen them do terrible things.

Marge Simpson is often shown as the ultimate matriarch, who loves her kids and husband more than anything in this world. But every now and then, like everyone else on the show, she makes some questionable decisions. We’re going to take a look back at some of the worst things she’s done, even if she had good intentions (which wasn’t always the case). And if this article gives you some nostalgia feels, we have some great news. You’ll be able to watch all of Marge’s best moments when the full series comes to Disney+ in November.

10 TAKES STEROIDS AND BECOMES VIOLENT

In Season 14’s “The Strong Arms of The Ma,” Marge develops agoraphobia after experiencing an unfortunate mugging incident at the Kwik-E-Mart. She moves into the basement, where Homer has stashed a weight lifting set. Bored, Marge starts working out and transforms into a massive bodybuilder to gain some confidence. When she begins using steroids to enhance her performance, she becomes aggressive and violent. At one point, she actually assaults Homer when he doesn’t want to be intimate, resulting in him being unable to take care of the kids because he’s too tired and sore. It takes Marge completely destroying Moe’s and beating up a bunch of sailors to realize the monster she’s become.

9 RUINS OTTO’S WEDDING AND TRIES TO KILL THE EX-BRIDE

Otto finally finds love in Season 11’s “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Marge.” However, Marge effectively ruins the wedding by convincing Becky, Otto’s fiancee, she should give him an ultimatum to choose between her and heavy metal music. Otto chooses metal, and Becky is stuck living in the Simpsons’ home until she can get back on her feet. Unfortunately, Marge becomes incredibly jealous of Becky and is consumed by paranoia that she’s trying to kill her and steal her family. Eventually, Marge does try to kill Becky and ends up institutionalized.

8 DESTROYS THE BURLESQUE HOUSE

Marge sometimes has a tendency to ruin things for other people because she doesn’t personally agree with them. A prime example of this happens in the classic episode “Bart After Dark” from Season 8. In this episode, Marge finds out that Bart has been working at a local burlesque house, La Maison Derriere, to pay off a debt he owes for breaking a statue. Unimpressed with the nature of the business, Marge demands that it close down. Ignoring the fact that she is torpedoing another woman’s business and will probably bankrupt her, Marge attempts to destroy the home with a bulldozer after leading a mob of angry moms and Christians there.

7 GOES TO JAIL AND TRIES TO STAY THERE

In the Season 27 finale, “Orange Is the New Yellow,” Marge is stressed as she deals with her household chores. This results in Bart being sent to play outside and getting caught at the park unsupervised. Marge is sentenced to serve time at the local women’s prison for being a neglectful parent. However, Marge thrives in jail as she begins to realize she has no domestic responsibilities and can take time for herself. At home, Homer is stressed out doing all of her tasks. When she is freed due to a technicality, she chooses to act out in order to get more jail time so she can avoid going home to do her chores and dealwith her family.

6 TATTLES TO THE FBI AND GETS HOMER ARRESTED FOR MOVIE PIRACY

Another one of Marge’s flaws is that she always tries to be a good person, which sometimes results in her being a goody-two-shoes. In Season 25’s “Steal This Episode,” Homer starts pirating movies for everyone to watch in his backyard. Marge writes an apology letter to Hollywood with a check for $12 to reimburse the movie tickets they didn’t buy. This results in Homer getting arrested by the FBI and nearly killed on his way to jail until he escapes. The family is then forced to seek exile in the Swedish consulate. When he finds out it was Marge all along, Homer turns himself in and ends up on trial with the federal court.

5 BANS SUGAR FROM SPRINGFIELD

Do-gooder Marge strikes again and ruins things for everyone in the Season 13 episode “Sweets and Sour Marge.” When Marge realizes that everyone in Springfield is unhealthy due to eating a lot of sugar, she gets sugar banned in the entire town through a class action lawsuit. Everyone is angry, especially donut-loving Homer. All sugar products are burned, and people become desperate for the sweet stuff. Apu, who now has nothing to sell in the Kwik-E-Mart, joins forces with Homer to start an illegal sugar smuggling ring, resulting in police trouble.

4 RUINS ITCHY AND SCRATCHY BY PROTESTING THE VIOLENCE

Season 2’s “Itchy & Scratchy & Marge” is another earlier episode of Marge attempting to inflict cancel culture on something she doesn’t like. After Maggie hits Homer with a mallet, she realizes that the kids’ favorite show, Itchy and Scratchy, is full of violence. She leads an angry mob in demanding that all of the violence be taken out of the show, but since the show is based on violence, the kids all stop watching. In the end, Marge is called out for her hypocrisy because she won’t promote the censorship of Michaelangelo’s David statue, so she gives up her fight.

3 BECOMES A FOODIE AND SENDS HOMER TO A METH LAB TO KEEP BEING A “FUN MOM”

In Season 23’s “The Food Wife,” Marge is sick of Homer being the fun parent and decides to start trying new and exciting foods with the kids. Homer feels left out, being a known food lover, and wants to join. However, Marge is paranoid he’s going to steal her thunder. She invites Homer to come to a new restaurant with them but gives him the wrong address, despite the fact that Bart and Lisa call her out on being so selfish. The address she gives Homer is to a meth lab, where he gets caught in the crossfires of a police raid.

2 CHEATS TO WIN A BAKING COMPETITION

Marge stoops to new levels in Season 16’s “All’s Fair in Oven War.” After a shiny new kitchen remodel, Marge develops a recipe for Dessert Dogs and enters the Ovenfresh Bakeoff. When she realizes her competition is sabotaging her, she gets back at them by adding Maggie’s ear drops to their food when she thinks no one is looking. But one person is looking — Lisa, who is appalled that her mother would set such a terrible example. Finally, Marge admits what she’s done, but only because Lisa makes her feel guilty.

1 TEARS THE FAMILY APART TO WIN AT TENNIS

In Season 12’s “Tennis the Menace,” Homer builds a tennis court and the whole town gets into it by holding a tournament. Marge originally joins with Homer but becomes frustrated when she realizes she won’t win with him on her team. She ditches Homer and chooses Bart for her new partner. This makes Homer feel neglected and insulted, and he chooses to join with Lisa, sparking a family rivalry where everyone turns on one another. This ends when Serena and Venus Williams show up and ditch Homer and Marge for Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras.
