From June 29 through July 7, The Sims 4 will play host to Sims Sessions, an in-game musical performance event headlined by pop star Bebe Rexha who will debut a new song in the Simlish language. The Sims franchise has a history of collaborating with famous musical artists. For instance, Katy Perry acted as a promotional partner for the brand during The Sims 2 and Sims 3 eras. Jason Derulo, Jhené Aiko, and Lizzo have also left their mark on the property.

The Sims‘ latest musical exploits come amid the ongoing Summer of Sims content rollout, which kicked off in May. Electronic Arts and developer Maxis shared a roadmap ahead of the three-monthlong festivities, promising another Expansion Pack, a career-centric Game Pack, and a virtual block party. The Game Pack went live earlier this month on June 1 and introduced players to the Dream Home Decorator Pack; it specifically boasted a new career path allowing players to explore their inner interior designer. By month’s end, Sims 4 fans will gain access to something even more exciting.

The franchise’s first in-game music festival kicks off on June 29 and ends on July 7, EA and Maxis have revealed. Grammy-nominated singer Bebe Rexha will perform her latest single, “Sabotage,” in Simlish. Meanwhile, Glass Animals’ lead singer Dave Bayley and musician Joy Oladokun have signed on to open the virtual concert by performing “Heat Waves” and “Breathe Again,” respectively. Players will get to enjoy Sims Sessions by hanging out or shopping digital merchandise related to the three aforementioned acts. Plus, Sims fans can join Bebe Rexha and musical personalities on TikTok in a “virtual Simlish Sessions karaoke challenge” on the social media platform. Whoever impresses the pop star with their own unique twist on “Sabotage” may even have their work reposted by Bebe Rexha. Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive and President of Music at EA, said of the upcoming in-game festivities:

“Sims Sessions is the next evolution of music in The Sims. Nowhere else can players hear and experience these exclusive performances by Bebe, Dave, and Joy. With the self-expression destination that is Sims Sessions, EA will once again re-set the bar for gaming, music, and global culture.”

As noted by Steve Schnur, this marks a big step for The Sims 4 and in-game events going forward. And it seems as if this particular endeavor could rival Fortnite’s in-game musical performances, though on a larger scale.

The Summer of Sims continues to press on, but fans are hoping to soon receive news about the franchise’s next major entry, presumably titles The Sims 5. If EA and Maxis do intend to let the cat out of the bag in the near future, the details may very well drop on July 22 during EA Play Live.

The Sims 4 is available across PC via Origin and Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
