The world of Mount Komorebi in The Sims 4: Snowy Escape Expansion Pack was inspired by the environment, architecture, and culture of Japan. Because of this, many of the activities Sims can enjoy in the expansion draw on Japanese life, both traditional and modern. Sims fans may be familiar with Gashapon, little capsule toy collectibles found in vending machines. While toys from the coin-operated American machines are rather cheap, the Gashapon in Japan are a little more expensive and of a higher quality. The toys are often licensed from popular characters in Japanese media and come in collectible sets. Snowy Escape features similar vending machines containing capsules with a series of toys called Simmies.

Sims can collect these Simmies from vending machines around Mount Komorebi. While some vending machines will dispense hot or cold food and drink or supplies like bug repellent and winter sports equipment, the special pink and blue vending machines dispense Simmie capsules. There are 12 unique Simmie designs, with each character also coming in a rarer Gold variant, making 24 collectibles for players to find. There are a few ways for players to find more Simmies, especially if they are trying to complete their set.

Where to Find More Simmies in The Sims 4: Snowy Escape

The Simmies players find are modeled after famous Sims NPCs from across the franchise. They are separated by color, with each color corresponding to a rarity tier. Green tier Simmies are the most common, followed by Blue, with Purple as the rarest. The Simmies included in each tier are:

  • Green: Buddy, Gnome, and Yamachan
  • Blue: Jasmine Holiday, Ol’ Gabby, Princess Cordelia, Father Winter, Izzy Fabulous, and Madame Zoe
  • Purple: Mayor Whiskers, Pit Beast, and Medieval Grim

The capsules Simmies come in correspond to these colors, but this does not necessarily reveal the rarity of the Simmie inside. Any rarity Simmie can appear in any color capsule.

Players should start their great Simmie hunt at the vending machines in the three neighborhoods of Mount Komorebi: Wakaba, Senbamachi, and Yukimatsu. While players can find all 12 Simmies in any of the vending machines, there are some benefits to traveling around to each neighborhood and using different machines. Sometimes, this leads to the player finding a gold Simmie or several, or finding Simmies they don’t already have.

Some Simmies can only be found or can be found more frequently during the three festivals that take place in the three different neighborhoods of Mount Komorebi. For example, during the Festival of Snow on Yukimatsu, players should have their Sims purchase a Simmie capsule or several, as they may find a rare one not available any other time. This acts as incentive to visit the festivals and explore the different foods, items, activities, and collectibles available there.

Collecting every Simmie is a matter of patience and luck. Players will need to keep buying capsules until they have the completed set. Like The Sims 4 itself, Simmie collecting can be a somewhat expensive hobby. To earn more Simoleons, the player can sell duplicate Simmies. They’ll also need to be careful while trying to collect. Sometimes, money gets stuck in the vending machines. If the Sim tries to shake the machine to get what they paid for, there is a chance the machine will fall on them. Snowy Escape brought back the classic Death by Vending Machine, making Simmie collecting a dangerous pastime for impatient or aggravated Sims.

The Sims 4 is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
