This incredibly vivid fan art is a true reminder of the show’s roots. The Umbrella Academy is based on the comic book series of the same name, written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá.

This fan art piece features all seven siblings with the addition of Hazel and Cha-Cha in their creepy masks. The bright colors captivate viewers and the colors are difficult to ignore in stark contrast to Vanya’s glowing white light.

Apparently you guys enjoyed my last Umbrella Academy fanart, so I wanted to make a proper one. Number Five (and Dolores) is my favorite character! #umbrellaacademy #theumbrellaacademy #gerardway #numberfive #aidangallagher

Number Five left the Umbrella Academy when he was just 13-years-old, time-traveling despite his father’s warnings. He got stuck in an apocalyptic future, unable to use his powers to return.

Decades later, his work with the Temps Commission bought him enough time to calculate the equation that would take him back in time. He returned, only to find himself in the body of his younger self, with the mind of a 58-year-old, and no tolerance for family drama.

Ths artist has made eight separate pieces of Umbrella Academy fan art. Luther’s art piece shows him standing in front of the moon while his border features golden stars. Diego is surrounded by blades.

Klaus has the hands of the dead reaching toward him within a skull detailed border. Ben’s border is entwined in tentacles and Vanya is controlling the sway of the trees with the wind in her hair.

Hazel and Cha-Cha have been working together for a long while and killed many people for the Temps Commission. But their partnership was tested when their attempts to capture Five were unsuccessful, and Hazel found love behind Cha-Cha’s back. Five intercepted their updated mission of protecting Leonard Peabody and sent both of them individual missions to eliminate the other.

In the end, it was Hazel who double-crossed Cha-Cha after she tried to kill his love interest and thought they could go back to working together as if nothing happened.

6 Vanya

This stunning piece of fan art is one of three by the artist: one has two normal eyes and brown hair, another has two glowing eyes and stronger coloring. This piece of fan art shows Vanya with one brown eye and one power surge eye. Vanya’s powers slowly made themselves known throughout the series. In the very first episode, each sibling learns about the death of their father in different ways.

As Vanya hears of her father’s death from a television in a store window, rain starts pouring behind her. In later episodes, Vanya’s powers were less subtle, showing their full force and driven by her rage.

This artist has put their own spin on the seven siblings’ costumes, inspired by Gabriel Bá’s illustrations and epic costume designs. It might look like Ben is nowhere to be found, but the tentacle creeping over Luther’s shoulder says otherwise.

Luther, Diego, Five, Allison, and Klaus all have their masks from their days in The Umbrella Academy, while Vanya is obviously the odd one out.

Klaus Hargreeves has the words “hello” and “goodbye” tattooed on his palms. He’s a walking ouija board. His powers allow him to communicate with the dead. Reginald Hargreeves “trained” Klaus by locking him inside a mausoleum, making him face death. But this method didn’t help Kalus get over his fears, it only made them worse.

He spent the majority of his adolescence trying to inhibit his powers and forget the traumas. When he finally sobered up in time to face the apocalypse with his siblings, his powers showed their suppressed potential.

3 Ben

Ben is one of the most loved characters in the series. The cause of his death is still a mystery, with fans coming up with theories left, right and center in an attempt to find an explanation. Klaus is the only member of the family who is able to see Ben, due to his abilities to communicate with the dead.

But all that changed in the final moments of the first season when Ben saved his siblings from armed forces using Klaus’s powers to project himself to the physical plain. This fan art captures the struggle young Ben felt when forced to use his powers.

The Umbrella Academy motto is “Ut Malum Pluvia,” meaning As Evil Rains. When Reginald Hargreeves went on the search for the special children who were all born on October 1st, 1989, he found seven of them. These seven were then raised to defend the world, to fight evil.

But one of them was too powerful to control, so she was “rumored” to think she was ordinary and given drugs to inhibit her powers. The sibling she was closest to vanished into time and the others didn’t include her.

Reginald Hargreeves, known as The Monocle, had a stern demeanor, a commanding voice, and a difficult relationship with his seven children. He trained them to save the world, and when the time came, he killed himself to ensure their reunion.

In the final episode of the first season of The Umbrella Academy, he is shown in a softer light. The man audiences thought was incapable of love, had someone he loved, and even smiled to himself when a very special violin was adopted by Vanya.
