This has been yet another exciting week of big news coming out of the cast of superstar coaches on The Voice season 21. OG coach Blake Shelton has been on The Voice since the series’ very first season, and he happens to still be sitting on his red chair 21 seasons later. Meanwhile, mainstay coaches John Legend and Kelly Clarkson have also come back for every single season since they first joined the show. Many coaches have come and gone, but they stayed.

Alas, Ariana Grande has joined The Voice season 21 as a new coach while being at the top of her game, which is bringing new stakes to the competition. So far, viewers and contestants have had nothing but praise to give Ari. Kelly and John have also been very welcoming to Ari, but Blake hasn’t missed any opportunities to get a little competitive and perhaps throw some shade at the new coach.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Since the September premiere of The Voice season 21, the coaches have been embroiled in the process of the Blind Auditions. This is always a high-stakes step in the competition, as auditioning singers are trying to make a great first impression while not being able to rely on any visual cues. Nonetheless, now is the perfect time for viewers to catch up with Ari’s season on The Voice.

The Voice Finishes Up Week Two Of Blind Auditions

As it stands, the coaches are in the middle of filling their teams with singers from the Blind Auditions. Each coach has 12 spots, and most of those spots are getting filled up very quickly. In fact, week two of the Blind Auditions just came to a close on The Voice. The two most noteworthy performances of the week came from Holly Forbes (Team Kelly) and Carson Peters (Team Blake), who each got a four-chair turn from the coaches. Right now, Blake and Ariana have three slots left in their respective teams. John still has four open slots, while Kelly still has five.

Ariana Grande Reveals She Broke Rules In Her Contract

Despite being the new coach in town, Ariana is very keen on abiding by all the rules on The Voice. With that said, perhaps it’s part of Ari’s charm that she’s just doing her own thing and keeping it real with the contestants and viewers on the show. As a matter of fact, Ariana has broken contractual rules on The Voice by her own admission, such as messaging back and forth with the singers who are on her team. The coaches aren’t allowed to do that, but Ari doesn’t really care. “I’ve broken every rule in my contract. I talk to them all the time. I’m DMing them,” she explained.

Blake Shelton Addresses Ariana Grande’s Popularity

As a result of Ariana’s enormous popularity as a coach on The Voice, a few different rumors have been swirling in the press. One of those rumors is that Blake was considering an exit from the show if he felt like Ari could take it from there. Two weeks into the show and those rumors have already reached Blake himself. This week, Blake addressed those reports by sarcastically thanking Ariana for doing such a great job. “Thanks a lot Ari… Thanks a f***kin’ lot,” Blake wrote in a message sent directly to the pop star.

The Voice season 21 airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
