The Wedding Singer is one of Adam Sandler’s highest-rated movies. Audiences perhaps hold the title to a higher esteem than other Sandler movies thanks to its warm story, while others might say it presents memorable and funny characters. Personalities like Robbie Heart and Sammy give The Wedding Singer some of its most memorable moments.

They are easy to like and are often showcased in a positive light on screen. However, other characters in the film are harder to size up. Players in the story like Julia Sullivan present their likability with their demeanor and behavior.

Glenn Gulia

Matthew Glave plays Glenn. It’s hard to argue Glenn isn’t the least likable character in The Wedding Singer. He is the main antagonist and presents several unpleasant qualities. Glenn is rude. He is duplicitous. He is selfish, shown in moments like when he makes Julia take the aisle seat on the airplane to Las Vegas.

Glenn lies to Julia. He acts as if he is faithful, and brags to Robbie about the women he cheats on her with. He never shows remorse for lying to her, and when Robbie calls him out on it, he gets angry. He is violent and punches Robbie during their argument.

Linda

Angela Featherstone plays Linda. She is Robbie’s fiancée at the beginning of the film until she jilts him at the wedding. She is condescending. When she confronts Robbie after abandoning him at their wedding, she says “I woke up this morning and I realized I’m about to marry a wedding singer?

She is selfish. When she changes her mind about Robbie, she takes advantage of him in a vulnerable state to try to edge her way back into his life. She is entitled and appears to expect Robbie to return to her no matter what she does.

Holly Sullivan

Some fans say The Wedding Singer is one of Christine Taylor’s best movies. She plays Holly, Julia’s cousin and friend. Holly is generally pleasant but presents certain negative qualities. She goes after Robbie despite sensing Julia’s feelings for him.

She is snarky and rude to Glenn, making fun of his outfit and asking him if he minds missing Miami Vice on his wedding night. However, Holly reveals herself to be a good friend to Julia by the end of the film. She helps her realize she has fallen for Robbie.

Sammy

Allen Covert plays Sammy. He is Robbie’s best friend. He presents less affable qualities in his relationship with women. He calls Linda names after she leaves Robbie. He makes macho comments about Julia behind her back, implying she will be helpless to his advances.

However, Sammy is more likable than many of his peers. Sammy is a good friend to Robbie. He tries to get him out of his depression following his and Linda’s break up and meet women at a wedding. He is kind to Robbie. He helps him get to the plane Julia is on so her wedding can be stopped, even fronting the bill for the tickets.

George Stitzer

Alexis Arquette plays George, Robbie’s friend and bandmate. George is passionate and a hard worker, playing solos in Robbie’s wedding band and holding down the performance when Robbie takes breaks. George helps make what some fans call some of the best movie wedding scenes in The Wedding Singer.

George is one of the less developed characters but presents few moments of unpleasantness. There aren’t many times George is showcased in a negative light, and they generally support Robbie throughout the film.

Rosie

Ellen Albertini Dow plays Rosie. She appears most often in The Wedding Singer when Robbie gives her music lessons, and when she performs the song they work on during her wedding anniversary.

Rosie isn’t as developed as some of the other characters in the film. However, she is almost always presented in a pleasant light, smiling, and generally acting kind to the people she interacts with.

Robbie Heart

Adam Sandler plays Robbie Heart. Robbie isn’t perfect. He flies off the handle at strangers at a wedding gig after he and Linda break up. He is hurtful to Julia when he tries to get a day job. However, he redeems himself from his rude behavior.

Robbie is kind. He gives Rosie music lessons for free, letting her pay him in meatballs. He is thoughtful, boosting the confidence of an insecure boy at a bar mitzvah. He is loving and helpful, organizing Julia’s wedding with her even after developing feelings for her.

Julia Sullivan

Some fans call The Wedding Singer one of Drew Barrymore’s best movies. She plays Julia. She is perhaps the most pleasant character in the film. She is kind, and often presented with a smile on her face.

Julia gives Glenn the benefit of the doubt even after he presents repeated moments of apathy toward his relationship and rudeness toward others. She is thoughtful, giving Robbie the gift of personalized sheet music. She rarely displays unpleasant behavior.
