The Witcher Season 2 Image: First Look At Jaskier & His New Look

Netflix has released a new image from The Witcher season 2, revealing Jaskier’s new look. The fantasy series, based on the novels and short stories by Andrzej Sapkowski, has become a huge hit for Netflix, with an animated spinoff called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf and a prequel series titled The Witcher: Blood Origin both currently in development. The Witcher stars Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Chalotra, with a supporting cast that includes Anna Shaffer, MyAnna Buring, and Joey Batey.

When The Witcher’s first season premiered on Netflix, Jaskier quickly became a favorite among fans. His silly songs and love/hate relationship with Geralt provided some of the show’s funniest moments, and it should be fun to see what kind of antics he’ll get up to in season 2. In the past, Geralt has had to help get the bard out of a number of sticky situations – a dynamic that will likely continue into the new season.

Jaskier won’t be facing the dangers of the Continent entirely unprepared, however, as a new image shared by Netflix for The Witcher has revealed that the bard is donning a new look in season 2. His hair is longer in the picture, and he wears a stylish red leather coat while playing what’s sure to be another jaunty tune on his lute. Check out Jaskier’s official new season 2 look below.

During WitcherCon, Netflix also revealed that season 2 of The Witcher will be premiering on December 17. That means Jaskier will be back in business before the year is out, along with Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, and the rest of the crew. The new season has already teased a lot of dangerous new monsters, secret plots, and fantastical locales for the characters to explore. With plenty of material to pull from in Sapkowski’s extensive Witcher lore, the new season could go to some truly wild places.

Jaskier’s makeover could be indicative of more character redesigns coming in season 2. What’s been shown of Geralt himself seems pretty inline with his season 1 appearance, but given how much time the story spans, it would make sense for other characters to get some fresh looks and new tools as they venture across the Continent. With multiple spinoff projects in the works at Netflix and the potential for many more installments of the core series to come, a lot is riding on season 2. Fans will find out if the wait was worth it when The Witcher returns on December 17.
