Glenn Close has revealed the one request she made before agreeing to cameo in the finale of The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window. Consisting of eight episodes, The Woman in the House stars Kristen Bell as Anna. Having recently suffered through a tragic loss, Anna spends most of her time indoors. She finds comfort in her wine and her mystery novels until, one night, her life turns into a real mystery. Bell’s character is certain that she’s witnessed a murder across the street, but everyone from the police to her best friend don’t seem to believe her story.

Close doesn’t factor into the main story of The Woman in the House, but she does make a quick appearance at the very end of season 1. In The Woman in the House episode 8, Anna, having arrived at a better place in her life, takes a trip to New York. On the flight, she sits next to an unnamed character played by Close. The mystery woman, who appears to be all business, is later found dead by Anna. But when a flight attendant is informed of the event, he says that there was never anyone in the seat next to Anna, and all the evidence of the body appears to have vanished.

In an interview with EW, Close shed light on the cameo that left a lot of viewers buzzing. The legendary actress praised her scene partner, Bell, and said that her character’s backstory was a mystery even to her. When it came to how she was approached to make a cameo appearance, Close revealed that she had only one request: “Have gloves and look fabulous.” Rachel Ramras, the showrunner on The Woman in the House, also recalled that Close made the same request.

Like a lot of new shows, particularly in the murder mystery genre, The Woman in the House has been presented as a limited series, and does conclude its central mystery after eight episodes. But like so many other shows with a compact story, from Mare of Easttown to Big Little Lies, talk of a potential Woman in the House season 2 started just as soon as the first installment ended. Still, it’s hard to imagine there would be as much interest without the tease of future appearances by Close exuding mystery and looking fabulous, and perhaps a season 2 could involve the actress further by way of flashbacks.

It would also help that, at the end of The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window season 1, the series finally dispenses with the appearance of being a serious drama. It embraces chaos, boasting a ridiculous twist and becoming an unabashed parody of murder mysteries by its final episode. If more episodes happen, there is certainly a lot of potential in Bell and Close sharing the screen again, teaming up to masterfully poke fun at a genre that has dominated the small screen landscape in the past several years.
