This article contains spoilers for She-Hulk #6

Marvel’s She-Hulk is about to get a new nemesis, and it just so happens to be a founding member of the X-Men – who doesn’t take kindly to humans interfering in mutant business. Jennifer Walters has only surged in popularity thanks to her hit 2022 Disney Plus show, and the so-called ‘first class’ of the X-Men have always garnered more and more fans with every passing year. But She-Hulk #6 reveals She-Hulk’s newest client will force Beast to act in a sinister fashion – and the two will most likely come to blows.

Ever since the incident that granted her the powers of her more famous cousin (thanks to a mob hit gone wrong in the comics and a car crash in the MCU), Jennifer Walters’ life has revolved around superheroes and the law that govern them. She has argued a case on behalf of the Fantastic Four for the sake of their children and has even joined them in space when the law failed to help the Earth (during the Reckoning War crossover event). She-Hulk is so well-known that embattled clients will seek her out – even the many mutants of Krakoa.

In She-Hulk #6, written by Rainbow Rowell with art by Luca Maresca, Nightcrawler walks into She-Hulk’s office with an novel proposition: she is asked to represent the entire island of Krakoa (from the 2019 X-Men reboot) in various legal matters, including property law, immigration systems and more. She-Hulk, strapped for clients, accepts (to the delight of her boss) and begins making preparations. Unfortunately, She-Hulk is still technically a human (her Hulk powers notwithstanding) and Beast has taken a more aggressive pro-mutant stance as of late…especially regarding immigration.

In X-Force #31, Beast is astounded to learn that Omega Red brought a boat of mutant refugees to Krakoa instead of a predetermined location where the press was already stationed. This was against Beast’s orders, who despairs that the boat is now on Krakoan shores…with a human captive as well. Beast even suggests the Quiet Council should reconsider their “amnesty for all mutants” policy…to say nothing of their anti-human policies. She-Hulk is a lawyer who is now representing a country run (in part) by Beast – who has broken international law many times in the name of mutant security.

If (or rather when) She-Hulk realizes that Beast is bending laws and taking advantage of legal loopholes for his people’s sake, she would most likely recuse herself…or simply fight Beast in person. Like Daredevil, She-Hulk uses the law to help people but won’t hesitate to use her powers when the system fails. The X-Men’s home is now represented by a by-the-book She-Hulk, who will see Beast as a legal hindrance far more than an ally (and the exact same applies to Hank McCoy).
