In Thor #22, Odin sacrifices himself to help stop the powerful villain, giving Thor his most incredible power. In the end, Thor gets a golden upgrade, as he wields a sword and gets a new armor as he prepares to take down the God of Hammers once and for all.

Thor has been without Mjolnir in his current ongoing series from Marvel Comics for some time. After his trusted hammer became heavier and more unpredictable, Thor left it under the care of the Avengers. However, it soon went missing. The God of Thunder quickly learned someone was using his hammer to cause destruction on a widespread scale, including destroying Nidavellir and Broxton, Oklahoma. Thor eventually learned the actor was the God of Hammers, the living embodiment of Mjolnir who gained the rage of Mangog. Now, Thor tries to stop his hammer before it destroys everyone he cares about.

In Thor #22 by Donny Cates, Nic Klein, Matt Wilson, and VC’s Joe Sabino, Thor continues his fight against the God of Hammers. A group of heroes join the battle to assist the All-Father, but the God of Hammers proves to be too much for them. Thinking on his feet, Thor traps the God of Hammers in a tornado before knocking it to the ground with a powerful attack. However, Thor quickly comes to the aide of Odin, who’s suffered grave injuries at the hands of the God of Hammers. Odin ends up sacrificing himself to transfer the entire Odinforce to Thor, giving the hero a gold power upgrade.

With the Odinforce, Thor becomes a golden god, as he wields the incredible power with an all-new sword ready to take down the God of Hammers. While the living embodiment of Mjolnir couldn’t be stopped before, with the Odinforce, Thor has a better chance at stopping his hammer than ever before.
