A new The Lion King viral theory suggests Scar ate Mufasa’s body. Disney is currently known as the studio behind Star Wars, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Pixar, but one of the foundational pieces is original animated movies. The Lion King‘s release in 1994 came during the golden age of Disney’s animation, where they delivered multiple hit animated films. These films had mass appeal and are quite family-friendly, with The Lion King in particular heralded as a classic with a great story and songs.

The Lion King might be suitable for younger audiences, but there are still some traumatic moments – namely the death of Mufasa. Near the beginning of the movie, the young lion cub Simba watches his dad and ruler of Pride Rock fall to his death. Mufasa was trampled by a stampede of wildebeests after Scar, his brother and Simba’s uncle, through Mufasa into the cavern below. This leads to a heartbreaking moment where Simba finds Mufasa’s lifeless body and is then told by Scar to run away. The Lion King never shows Mufasa’s body again, and that has now sparked an insane theory about what happened to it.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The theory from TikTok user Christian Jones @classyking0 is spreading across the internet, as he’s suggesting that Scar eats Mufasa in The Lion King. The video questions what happened to Mufasa’s body after he died and notes that no animals actively hunt lions in real life. It then points to a scene later in the film where Scar is seen playing with a skull that looks to be the shape of a lion’s skull.

At first glance, this is a shocking but compelling theory to consider for The Lion King. Scar was the last one to be shown near Mufasa’s body, so he’s in a position to take the body away and eat it if that’s what he wants. Scar also tells the other lions of Pride Rock of Mufasa’s demise and doesn’t appear to bring the body with him. If this is what happened, it would make sense why The Lion King doesn’t show it, as this is still a movie for all ages after all. And since it is evident Scar hated his older brother, there’s no way of knowing where he’d stop to feel superior.

However, that doesn’t mean this Lion King theory is correct. The entirety of it is based on events that happened off-screen. Mufasa’s body could’ve been brought to Pride Rock and buried potentially, or it could’ve been left in the wild to decay naturally. There’s also no way of knowing that the skull Scar plays with is Mufasa’s, as it could be the skull of another cat-like creature or one of an entirely different lion. Now that this theory is out in the world, fans will have to decide for themselves whether or not they believe Scar ate Mufasa in The Lion King.
