Tim Roth has opened up about working with She-Hulk star, Tatiana Maslany, to praise the actress’ performance in the upcoming series. The show will introduce Jennifer Walters, a.k.a She-Hulk to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Maslany in the titular role. She-Hulk is expected to debut on Disney+ later this year.

Though he has only appeared in two films, Roth’s Abomination is one of the longest-tenured characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Introduced in The Incredible Hulk as Emile Blonsky, the character was presented as a skilled but aging special forces soldier enlisted on the hunt for Bruce Banner. Injected with a Super Soldier Serum to aid his battle against Hulk, Blonsky eventually forces Dr. Samuel Sterns to inject him with Banner’s irradiated blood, turning him into Abomination. At the end of the Phase 1 film, Hulk defeats a rampaging Blonsky, resulting in the villain going into custody of the American government. Emile Blonksy returned in last year’s Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings during a brief fight sequence against Wong. This appearance teed up the character’s eventual return in She-Hulk, which is scheduled for this year.

In a recent interview with the On Tape podcast (via CBR), Roth opened up about working on the series and praised lead actress Tatiana Maslany for her performance in the series. Roth said, “Tatiana, who plays She-Hulk, is just outstanding, she’s… a powerhouse.” The actor went on to say that returning to play Abomination feels “weird” and also gave a small tease that the She-Hulk series will have a “bit of everything.”

So, Roth’s comments about working on She-Hulk seem to promise a powerful performance from Maslany. This is also not the first time that Roth has praised Maslany, so he clearly seems to have enjoyed the time he spent on set with her and Mark Ruffalo, which seemed significant. So while the series will definitely explore the originals of Jennifer’s powers and explore her life as a combination lawyer and gamma-powered superhero, it seems that Blonsky may also get quite a bit of screen time as well.

Of course, the presence of Abomination on She-Hulk leads many fans to wonder if the villain may square off against Bruce Banner in the upcoming Disney+ series. The two have not shared the screen together since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, when Edward Norton was still in the Bruce Banner role. Obviously, Maslany is the lead of the show, so chances are good that she will face off against Abomination at some point during the run of the show, but given how much of a handful Blonsky showed himself to be in his introductory appearance to the MCU, it would make sense for Hulk to step in and lend a hand. Fans will see Abomination, She-Hulk, and the rest of the series’ cast when She-Hulk premieres on Disney+ later this year.
