A new Invincible clip from the upcoming episode 5 shows Machine Head and Titan in a tense confrontation. The animated superhero saga from Amazon has won high praise so far, especially for its star-studded voice cast led by Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, and Sandra Oh. The series also features the talents of Mahershala Ali, Lauren Cohan, Clancy Brown, Grey Griffin, Mark Hamill, Mae Whitman, Jeffrey Donovan, Michael Dorn, and Kevin Michael Richardson, among others. Invincible episode 5 airs on Prime Video on April 9.

Based on the Robert Kirkman series from Image Comics, Invincible focuses on the story of Mark Grayson (Yeun), a young superhero and son of the famous Omni-Man (Simmons). As Mark’s powers finally emerge, he becomes the new superhero Invincible, fighting alongside his father against various threats while slowly uncovering a darker mystery. The show is produced by Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment. A live-action Invincible movie is also currently in development, which will be separate from the animated series in cast and story.

In a new exclusive clip for Invincible episode 5, the stone-skinned Titan (Ali) confronts crime lord Machine Head (Donovan) about his debt and continued underworld work. The scene is another great instance of the drama/comedy blend that’s earned the series so much praise. Even in a moment between two side characters, Invincible is still packed with star power. Also, Machine Head’s menacing autotuned voice is truly inspired. Watch the exclusive clip below.

Though its animated stylings separate it visually from The Boys, Invincible has a similar appeal to Amazon’s marquee original series. Both provide a more adult-oriented look at the superhero genre, though The Boys’overt satire has led to some much more brutal and disturbing moments. As major comic brands like Marvel and DC continue to dominate pop culture, lesser-known stories like Invincible both additional content for diehard fans of the genre, and an alternative to those who aren’t entirely aboard the MCU train.

Invincible also marks one of Amazon’s biggest moves yet into the realm of original animation – a realm that competitor Netflix has been dominating for some time with a constant stream of new western and Japanese anime series. With such a talented and extensive voice cast leading it, Invincible is already off to a great start. Hopefully, that trend will hold as the story continues to reveal itself. Invincible episode 5 is set to air on Amazon Prime Video this Friday, April 9.
