Titans Actor’s Mysterious Role Is Reportedly The Villain Trigon

Seamus Dever’s mysterious Titansrole is reportedly the villain Trigon. Mining inspiration from the Teen Titans comic books by George Perez and Marv Wolfman, and hit animated series, the live-action adaptation centers on the younger generation of DC heroes who are also former sidekicks of more prominent superheroes in the lore. Written and created by Akiva Goldsman, Greg Berlanti, and Geoff Johns, the project is set to premiere on the DC Universe streaming service later this year.

Admittedly, people were initially skeptical about the show when it was first announced. But as months went by, and DC’s plans for Titans become clearer, fans are slowly showing interest on the project. More recently the release of the first look of  Brenton Thwaites’ Dick Grayson only furthered anticipation for the live-action series. Now, new intel suggests Dever is going to take on the part of the team’s biggest adversary yet.

News of Dever’s casting first came out last January, but other than the fact that he’s going to be a recurring player in the DC live-action show, details about his character have been kept under wraps until now. Fandomwire reports that the actor is playing Trigon – a villainous demon who has an arsenal of the skills including energy projection, telepathy, shape-shifting, super strength, and reality manipulation among others. He’s fought the Justice League and the Teen Titans in print and has easily discarded both teams.

It’s still uncertain whether or not Titans will closely stick to his characterization considering that Trigon’s comic book description makes him almost unbeatable. And while a powerful and worthy villain is never a bad thing, given that it’s only the debut season of the show, it’s best that Grayson and his team start with low-level criminals – foes who can be easily defeated but in order to do so, will require cooperation from members of the superhero gang. This way, the Titans would develop a sense of unity that would be pivotal when the time comes that they go up against bigger and more powerful bad guys. Further, the story could focus more on establishing their individual characters first.

It’s important to remember, however, that this is by no means a confirmation that Dever is indeed playing Trigon. So until DC comes forward to announce it, it’s best to take this new report with a pinch of salt. As it is, details regarding Titans are still scant at the moment, but previous claims suggest that the show will have a darker tone which will include adult language that would merit an MA rating on a traditional network.
