Tom Cruise’s recent rant on the set of Mission: Impossible 7 has been added to the classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer cartoon with hilarious results. The 1964 TV special utilizes stop-motion animation and has been a staple for many over the years during the Christmas season.

Though the festive season is now in full swing, not everyone is feeling joyful. A recent audio recording of Cruise berating the crew of M:I7 for standing too close to one another despite strict COVID-19 regulations quickly became a viral sensation. The recording features Cruise angrier than most have ever thought possible. Cruise barked out several expletives along the way, telling everyone in no uncertain terms how vital it is to obey Covid regulations and that from that point onward, whoever breaks the rules will be fired on the spot. The incident marked yet another difficulty in a shoot that has been filled with controversy and delays. Whether or not these issues will ultimately mar the finished product remains to be seen, but Cruise won’t have time to bemoan M:I7’s production woes, as production on M:I8 will immediately follow.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Cruise certainly isn’t laughing over his outburst and the subsequent recording released to the world, but Twitter user Jason Gallagher is. After seeing the apparent potential for festive laughs in Cruise’s words, Gallagher went to the trouble of syncing the now-infamous audio clip with a hilariously edited scene from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. The result is something that looks Christmas-y but falls into the “naughty” category. The entire video can be seen below:

It definitely takes a moment to adjust to hearing Tom Cruise’s angry words coming from Santa, and the looks on the elves’ faces arguably make the entire video. To date, Cruise has not publicly apologized for his anger on the M:I7 set. George Clooney came to the A-list star’s defense shortly after the recording went viral. But while Clooney agreed with the need to ensure that any location – be it film or television needs to obey Covid regulations, he admitted that he wouldn’t have gone about it in the same way that Cruise did. The entire issue was the last thing that anyone expected to hear from Cruise, who is known for keeping his cool in dangerous or tense situations – especially at this time of year.

However, the degree of pressure that Cruise must currently be under is unfathomable. While it’s true that making a film isn’t on par with doctors and nurses working on the frontline of the ongoing Covid pandemic, numerous delays, problems, restrictions, and pressures loom over Cruise. Mission: Impossible 7 has not been an easy shoot, and in many ways, it represents the benchmark for Covid-era productions. The last thing the production needs at this point is to be shutdown. Still, the mixture of Cruise at his angriest with a classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer cartoon is objectively hilarious.
