Warning: This article contains spoilers for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Tom Holland is excited to finally be able to talk about the Spider-Man: No Way Home that he’s been keeping secret for so long. The ambitious crossover film, which opened in theaters on December 17, saw Holland’s Peter Parker ask Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumbebatch) to enact a spell to make people forget they know he’s Spider-Man. When that spell goes horribly wrong, different characters from the multiverse are dragged into the MCU, including villains Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Doc Ock (Alfred Molina), Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), Lizard (Rhys Ifans), and Electro (Jamie Foxx) and their respective Spider-Men, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Though Maguire and Garfield’s presence has long been rumored due to a leaked set video and several other clues, Marvel kept an otherwise extremely tight lid on their appearance in the film until the premiere, not even showing their images in promotional materials. For Tom Holland, who is famously loose-lipped about Marvel spoilers, this must have been pure torture. In a recent interview, the young actor even compared the process of keeping the film’s secrets to being a member of the Suicide Squad, with a chip in the back of his neck that will trigger an explosion if he makes a mistake.

Speaking with THR about the critical and commercial success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Holland expressed his relief about finally being able to talk about spoilers. He says he, Maguire, and Garfield “had one of the most incredible experiences working together,” and that their shared Spider-Man experience really made them feel like a family. He says it was “the highlight of [his] career” and he’d like to “keep talking about this movie.” Read the full quote below:

It will also be nice to start talking about the film now that everyone has seen it! There’s so many stories I haven’t told because it’s all been a secret. You know, Andrew [Garfield] and Tobey [Maguire] and I had one of the most incredible experiences working together. We’re the only three people to have ever played this character on the big screen, and that creates this brotherhood, this friendship, that goes past just knowing each other.

We have a shared experience that only us three have, and because of that connection, the relationship that we had on set — I’m sure it comes across on screen — was like we were long-lost brothers. And I want to talk about it. Honestly, it was the highlight of my career. Put me on stage in front of a thousand people. I have so much to tell that I haven’t been allowed to. I’d love to keep talking about this movie.

The spoiler patrol has remained largely intact during the first week of the film’s release. However, the dam is certain to break soon and nearly everyone who cares will know about No Way Home‘s biggest spoiler, likely leading to a second wave of interviews. Holland might have exhausted his non-Maguire/Garfield related on-set stories during his publicity tour, but he clearly has a fresh stock of gushing to do.

This will likely be a huge boon for Spider-Man: No Way Home. The film is already a box office phenomenon, becoming the year’s highest-grossing U.S. movie worldwide in just 6 days. As soon as Holland can be let loose on the spoilers, that will likely garner another wave of ticket sales that will boost the film into the stratosphere to become certainly the highest grossing Spider-Man ever, perhaps even competing with Avengers: Endgame, the only film to which it has consistently fallen short in the box office.
