Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland says that he would love a crossover between his version of the web-slinger and Florence Pugh’s iteration of Black Widow. No Way Home is the 27th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will continue Phase 4 of the franchise following the releases of Black Widow, Shang-Chi, and Eternals earlier this year. It is the third film of the Homecoming trilogy and a direct sequel to 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. No Way Home picks up right where Far From Home left off from the post-credits scene where Mysterio reveals Spider-Man’s identity as Peter Parker to the public. The story of the film follows Peter as he takes the help of Doctor Strange and his magic to make his identity secret again, which accidentally leads to the creation of the Multiverse, bringing supervillains from alternate realities into the MCU.

The film is set to be Tom Holland’s third solo outing in the MCU as the loveable web-slinging superhero. He is joined by a supporting cast that includes recurring actors Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, and J.B. Smoove. Doctor Strange stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Benedict Wong are the latest additions to the Homecoming series. Numerous actors from Sony’s Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man films are set to reprise their roles with the likes of JK Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson, Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin, Alfred Molina as Doc Ock, and Jamie Foxx as Electro, to name a few.

While attending the premiere event for Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland revealed to Entertainment Tonight that one of the new actors in the MCU that he wants to work with is Florence Pugh, stating that “she’s amazing.” He admitted that he was a big fan of her performance in Black Widow and some of her other films. He also mentioned that a crossover between their versions of Spider-Man and Black Widow “would be a fun little twist.” Read what he had to say below:

“I want to work with Florence Pugh. I think she’s amazing. She’s so good in that movie [Black Widow] and all the movies she’s done. I think she’s fantastic. A really cool Spider-Man / Black Widow movie would be a fun little twist.”

Black Widow marked Scarlett Johansson’s final appearance as one of the original Avengers, Natasha Romanoff. Following Nat’s death in Avengers: Endgame, the first and only solo live-action film based on the fan-favorite Russian spy saw her character unofficially pass on the mantle of the next Black Widow to Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova. Yelena recently appeared in the ongoing Hawkeye series and is set to have a major role moving forward as the Disney+ show comes to its conclusion. While the possibility of a crossover between Holland’s wall-crawler and Pugh’s superspy would be enticing, it’s unlikely to come to fruition anytime soon.

With Peter Parker tackling the Multiverse in No Way Home and Yelena hell-bent on avenging the death of her sister against Clint Barton and Kate Bishop in Hawkeye, it looks like the characters are set to continue with their respective journeys for the time being. However, many of Marvel Studios’ upcoming projects are set to feature crossovers, with the presence of the Sorcerer Supreme in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Wanda Maximoff in Doctor Strange 2, and the Guardians of the Galaxy led by Star-Lord in Thor: Love and Thunder showing the flexible nature of the MCU. This could provide some hope for Tom Holland and the rest of the MCU fanbase yearning for what could be an appealing team-up.
