Uncharted star, Tom Holland reveals that he was hit by a car 17 times during filming, calling the stunt “one of the highlights.” Fresh off the release of 2021’s box-office sensation, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Holland is currently promoting his latest highly-anticipated feature, Uncharted. The film, which is adapted from the popular PlayStation franchise of the same name, sees Holland star as Nathan Drake, a young adventurer and professional treasure-hunter, who travels the world in search of lost riches. Mark Wahlberg will play Victor Sullivan, or Sully, Drake’s mentor and friend who accompanies him on his swashbuckling adventures.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Having first appeared as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man back in 2016, Holland is no stranger to roles of a more physical nature, with the 25-year-old even recently revealing that his time as the web-slinging hero actually prepared him for the intense stunt work that he took on for Uncharted. Given that the film is directly inspired by a highly successful video game franchise, a number of the action sequences that have been teased so far are largely reminiscent of some that fans will have come across within the games before. Recent featurettes and teasers for Uncharted have offered a glimpse at a number of heart-pounding scenes that establish the sort of stakes that Drake will deal with within the film and now Holland has divulged one particularly exciting stunt that was a proud moment for the actor.

In conversation with THR, Holland was asked if there were any specific moments that he felt would spring to mind when he reminisced about his time on Uncharted in the future. The Spider-Man star responded by detailing a particular day in which he was “hit by a car 17 times“. Holland shared that the experience was “very painful, but very rewarding” and continued that it was a “proud moment” for him, before teasing that he believes it made for “one of the best stunts in the movie.” Check out Holland’s full quote below.

The day I got hit by the car was pretty impressive. That was a lot of fun. It was very painful, but very rewarding. It’s a pretty cool thing when someone says, “How was your day today?” And I’m like, “Hey, I got hit by a car 17 times.” And people are like, “Wait, what?” So for me, that was a very proud moment, and I think it’s one of the best stunts in the movie. It’s really, really cool and that would have to be one of the highlights.

Holland also recently revealed that Uncharted‘s Cargo-plane scene that has been teased across the film’s trailers was the hardest action scene he has ever had to shoot, so it’s fair to say the film’s production has been rather taxing on the young star. Throughout Uncharted‘s promotional run, Holland has been incredibly open about his experience in playing this beloved character. The announcement that the Cherry star would take on the role certainly divided public opinion as some considered the actor to be too young for the part, with The Suicide Squad star, Nathan Fillion’s name having previously been thrown about when it came to fan casting the role.

From what can be seen in the film’s trailers, it seems as though this car stunt could tie directly into the cargo-plane scene, meaning audiences could be in for a real treat with regards to how this scene will play out. Aside from the stunts that this film boasts, audiences will also likely be looking forward to seeing how Holland’s real-life friendship with costar, Wahlberg will play out on screen, as the lead-up to the film’s release has prompted a number of hilarious exchanges between the pair. As for now, fans do not have long to wait to see Holland’s car stunt in action, as Uncharted releases in theaters on February 18.
